Car Rental - pickup time question

Several months ago I reserved a car for pickup at 4pm at the end of October. Is there a problem if I pick it up earlier - around noon? Will they charge more? I have a good price on it, so I don't want to cancel the reservation. Just checked for a new reservation and it's gone up $100.

If it is picked up earlier and adds an extra day to the rental period yes rate will go up. What time are you returning it?

Nobody here can answer- you will get many different answers. You need to call rental company.

Your contract with them was to pick up at a specific time and return at a specific time for a certain rate. If you change the times/terms they can and most likely will increase the rate.

Who are you renting from? Most car rentals are based on 24-hour periods, so picking up at noon and returning in the afternoon would likely add an extra day to your rental. With Alamo and National, I have picked up a car up to an hour early, but I have always returned it by the same time of day to avoid additional charges. I have no experience with other car rental companies.

The reservation is to pickup at 4pm, and return at noon. I'd like to change it to pickup at noon and return at noon. Wasn't sure if they are sticklers for picking up at the exact time stated, or if it was acceptable to pickup a few hours earlier.

Doesn't seem like rate should go up since not adding extra 24 hour period.. but you are changing it. Know some people have luck calling and asking- if they say rate would go up decline modification and call again. Good luck

You might try the View, Modify, or Cancel link on the Alamo web site to find out what would happen if you modify your pickup time. If the rate is the same, accept the change and you will be all set.
