We are staying on Disney property for our 7 day trip in September. However, we are planning on going to Universal for two of those days. How much is it going to cost us to get a ride over to Universal and back? There will only be two of us.

We always rent a car, even when we are staying exclusively at Disney. We just enjoy the freedom of coming and going as we please and not relying on anyone else to get us there.

We're having the same situation. At first I thought we'd just do Disney exclusively and bypass the rental car (since we are flying this time instead of driving- per DH's request) -but my kids (especially my son the Spiderman obsessed child) are really wanting to go to US/IOA also on this trip AND on my solo trip it really bothered me quite a bit that I didn't have a vehicle and relied only on WDW transportation. For the most part it was okay- but sometimes it really bothered me.... I think because here in Texas we always use our vehicle- there simply isn't much public transportation around here so I'm not used to not having a vehicle to come and go as I please.
Anywho- it shouldn't be too expensive for just 2 people to go to US/IOA a couple times -but for us it would cost almost as much as having a rental vehicle (plus the transportation to/from airport) -so I'm sure we'll be renting a vehicle.
I have no idea how much it will cost you though. I'm not sure if you would have to take a taxi or have other options available to you.

We always rent a car, even when staying on Disney property. Some nights we like to take a ride instead of going to a park. Some nights we like to eat off the property, or we might take a ride to Tampa/St Petersburg area one day, because we love to walk along the beaches there. We love the freedom of doing what we want

We always rent a car from Dollar. We like to have the ability to go off property & shop.

Welcome to the Dis. I'm going to send your post over to our Transportation board for more answers. Thanks for posting. :)

This will be our 5th trip this year and once again we're NOT hiring a car. We've stayed on & off site and never found a need to hire yet . We normaly use MEARS coaches if you phone the day before to arange your pick up times the are alway on time.Should you need to add extra time to your day phone at least an hour before & they are only to glad to acommodate you. If you wish to go shopping whilst on site a car would be easier.

have a great time :)

Sometimes its just nice to hop in the car and get there!! I think Disney transportation is pretty good but being able to just go when you want is better!!
