Car Rental - MCO?

I have been looking into a few different car rentals companies to use on our upcoming trip (Dec 11-19). They seem to have similar prices (Dollar, Thrifty).

Which car rental company do you prefer? Maybe the prices are similar but there is some hidden policy/fee I am missing. Or if not because of price because they are easy/quick to pick up at the airport.

Thanks!! :flower3:

We personally use our Aeroplan miles for our car rental and either get Hertz or Avis from the airport. I have the CIBC Infinite Visa too which means I don't have take the car rental insurances. This applies whether I use the card for the rental or not.

Check the transportation section for feedback on rentals at MCO. One of the big issues can be the lines.

I have been using National. If you join the Emerald Club and rent a standard size car you walk straight out to the parking lot, pick the car you want from the Emerald Club row, keys are in the door. There is a kiosk on the way out you hand them your drivers license and the slip on the dash. Hard to beat for convenience. Found prices comparable.

Do check the mousesaver.com section on car rental codes. This can get you good savings.

We use National or Emerald. No lines, good prices. Never had a problem with either of these at MCO.

Hertz uses a shuttle to an off-site facility just north of the airport. I think it's the only one without in-terminal service. I've used it before and had no trouble, but I prefer the convenience of in-terminal service.

Hertz moved into the terminal last spring. We used them in September. I still like Alamo because you get to choose your own car.

Check the car rental section on mousesavers.com. They have all kinds of discount codes that you can use for booking cars. Also, many of the rental companies are actually the same parent company with multiple brand names. That's why you'll often see the same price for similar cars on the same days.

National has been our best bet for no waiting in lines. Even before Emerald they have quick kiosks inside the terminal. Had a good deal at Budget last year, but regretted it after waiting an hour in line for the car! Emerald club also gets you a second driver (same family) for no charge; others charge extra. National also has the best deal for Toll pass if you plan to do a lot of highway driving.

I signed up for the Emerald club and I am looking at mousesavers for coupons codes. Thanks everyone for your help :)

Used both Alamo and Dollar at MCO. With their free member programs you get to skip the lines as well and can go directly to the counter in the lot, never had a wait there and then you can choose any car from the category you booked. One time they didn't have the category we booked and they said just choose anything you want, it's a free upgrade.

Whenever we have flown to Orlando International Airport we always rent from Avis and each time their service has been great, so we never had any issues with them. Plus since we have a Avis Wizzard card we can bypass the check-in line inside the terminal, check-in where we pick up the keys and get out of there a lot faster.

We rented from Dollar at MCO. Loved the experience! I have found Dollar to have the best rates, and I can usually find a discount rate code online that really lowers the price that noone else can beat. We are also Dollar Express members and I highly recommend signing up for any car rental's express service so you can bypass the lines at the counter. Yes, you do have to give them your credit card information when booking using Express, but it is so worth it. We bypassed the lines inside the airport and walked straight to the Express booth in the parking garage. When they noticed a line up starting at the express booth, they opened up another window and we had our car within 5 minutes. Great selection of cars. Easy return too.

So we reserved a midsize with National. The estimated cost is $159.77 for 8 days. I read over on the Transportation section that there is a chance you could get a better vehicle than a midsize and that you just get to pick any car from the Emerald Aisle. We will be happy either way but nice to know there is a chance something better could be there. Thanks again for the help.

In our case, Enterprise was 70.00 cheaper than any other company. Please search for the 2 threads I started with details. Wish I could give you the links but it is tough to do it from my iphone.

Hi Camilo

I found the thread and tried the code you posted for our dates with Enterprise. I got a rate of $157.32 US for an Intermediate. The rate with National is $159 CAD so still seems cheaper. Maybe you applied other codes?

I am still on the hunt. I can always cancel for a better deal ;)

Thx!

Try Budget using BCD code x474200 and coupon code muwz023. Full size car for $165.00 and you get a $25.00 discount with the coupon code when you pick up the car. I got a van from Dec 18-30 for $472.00 plus $25.00 off with the coupon. You can also join Fastbreak to avoid the counter line ups.

I just booked with Alamo for Dec. 14-21, pick up at MCO and return to Car Care Center at WDW so we can take ME home - only $135 CDN all in for a full-size - got a $115/wk base rate, plus used the Visa discount for another $30 off. Got to cancel my SUV with Alamo at the CCC for $257, so saved over $100 just by picking up at the airport and getting a full-size instead of an SUV - very happy!:goodvibes

What codes did you use?

I got the Visa code from Mousesavers.com - used ID 7015504 coupon
AD2338FDF - you have to pay with your Visa to keep the discount. The weekly base rate was only $115 before I even used the code though. There are other codes that may work if you aren't using Visa.
