Car rental locations at Sanford Airport

We are flying into Sanford late (10pm) and currently have a car booked through Hertz. My parents arrive with us but booked the car through Alamo or Avis (I can't remember)

So here's the question: Where in or at the airport are these specific rental counters?
Someone said they are outside, someone else said they are at the luggage pick-up area. Someone else (boy I hope they are wrong) said we have to take a shuttle to get to one of them.

The airport map is useless, it gives no information on specific locations (9-11 security reasons I am sure) but a 10pm arrival with 4 kids and 2 old people is a little worrisome without a few specifics.

The alamo counter is a short walk across the parking lot. I'm not sure about Hertz, there are some inside the terminal. Call them and ask. When we booked with alamo in Feb. DH called to check the reservation and they were able to tell him where they were located.

We've only returned a car to Sanford, not picked up, but the building for the car rentals is outside and I'm quite certain that's where you go to pick up the car...I don't recall seeing any counters inside the airport. The airport is very small and after you walk out the airport doors the car rental building is just a short walk away (basically you just cross the road). Does Hertz have your flight info and have you confirmed that they're going to be open when you arrive even if it's a bit after 10 pm?. I remember checking rates a few months back and I was thinking they all closed at either 9:00 or 10:00.

There are several counters inside the airport just past the luggage area. Alamo is outside but is just down the sidewalk.

Hertz, Alamo and Avis are all close by. Budget is off-site.

The Sanford airport is so small you don't have to worry about finding the counters.
