I am braving keeping our trip end of August.. Due to the "current situation" we are avoiding WDW transportation. I had originally booked with Avis and spend hours looking at others. .Just found a great deal 200 cheaper at Sixt.
So for those looking check out SIXT.. My gut feeling is the ban on EU/ German visitors (Sixt's main market) and lack of US brand knowledge is keeping their inventory open. Its crazy though how much more car rental in MCO got..

Here in the USA, I would never rent from no-name rental companies or brands I have never heard of. (Have never rented a car in a foreign country so can't speak to how things work overseas). You are renting a commodity, so it isn't like one rental company has any advantage over any other. For them to setup locations here in the USA, have a rental fleet, service them, etc. will be a lot of fixed costs to spread around especially if a relatively small company. Never heard of them, but glanced around online to see reviews and there are numerous complaints about overcharges and poor response from that company.

Your post contradicts itself. You say you would never rent from no-name rental companies or brands you haven't heard of, then in the next sentence say that one rental company doesn't have an advantage over others. If one company doesn't have an advantage, why wouldn't you rent from a lesser known brand?

I book rental car companies into tiers. Sixt isn't in the top tier, but they aren't in the bottom either. They are huge in Europe and have been around for a long time. Since Sixt is on site at MCO, I would prioritize them above any of the companies off site and Payless, Dollar and Thrifty on site.

If you only look at the reviews all of the rental car companies are horrible. How many people here at the Dis have sworn off Hertz after the Mousesavers debacle last month?

I rented from Sixt in LA a few years back. The reviews weren't great but I did my research and realized they were a mainstay in the UK. I had a fine experience.

Sixt is definitely not a no name. Been around since pre WW1. 1912 it’s known historically they had a fleet of one of the original Benzes (a fleet of 3 lol)

they are known for having a premium fleet- porches etc. . My Avis for 5 days was over 500 for a Nissan Versa . At Sixt Nissan was 250 got a BMW 3 for 300. Mercedes GLK would have been 40 more.

curious if I got a fluke. Or if they really are that much cheaper at the moment
