Hi everyone,

Do we fellow Canucks know if we can use the car rental codes that all the U.S. residents are kind enough to provide on the Transportation Board?

Renting a car for a week next September while at SSR and want to get the best rate!

Looking forward to Christmas and two weeks off work!

Thank you all from Canada's Arctic....brrrrr!!! (actually not too bad today, it's -15 I believe...downright balmy!) And you wonder why I love Florida????

I have a costco membership and always find decent codes from costco.com for Alamo.
Quite often the rental car co will put out a coupon that anyone can print and use. The codes from www.mousesavers.com are usually fine too.

You have to keep checking the pricing though - I got our rental car this week from $137 for a midsized down to $58 for a full sized for 5 days and because you get to pick any car from the 'full sized' line we ended up with a Toyota Camry! Every time the price dropped I would just re-book and cancel the old ressie!

Thank you bitsnbears mom. This is valuable info. I will keep checking (and we are Costco members so that helps.)

Have a great Christmas!

Yes....I have used several codes over the years from the Disboards and Mousesavers websites. The good thing is,if you were to book with National or Alamo for example ,you could book right now (with a code) watch and wait for a better deal to come along...where you can the cancel and rebook at no charge (I've sometimes booked and rebooked up to 10 times preceding a vacation withe the resulting booking being less than 50% of the original).
good luck

Another tip, sometimes booking on the Canadian websites is cheaper than booking on the US websites. I have often found that Budget.ca is cheaper than Budget.com.
I usually find that as the trip gets closer the rates at Alamo get better then any of the other rental companies, and I agree with the PP about the Costco codes and coupons working great.
Happy Holidays!
