car rental after midnight?

We're debating between renting a car or getting a towncar. We usually just get a transfer but we're considering just renting this time if I can find a good rate.

We're leaving late, because I have an exam in the early afternoon, so we're not scheduled to land in Orlando until 11:40. By the time we get off the plane and get our baggage it'll be midnight at least. Are the rental places even open that late? Or are some open, some not? Anyone have any experience with this. So far Thrifty has the best rate for us (saving about $75 over National or Alamo - but I still keep checking different combinations of codes and coupons just in case) but I'm not sure if we'll even be able to get a car that late. I would assume that since they allowed me to put in 12:15 AM as our pickup time that it's open, but I don't want to assume and then be stranded at OIA having to call a cab or something, haha.

Anyone have experience with late arrivals? Any problems? I'm even half debating just getting a transfer and then renting a car for a day or 2 from National or Alamo on property. Just have to keep trying various combinations to see what the price comes out to be.

Thanks in advance!!

Carrie

We arrive after midnight all the time. The MCO onsite places are all open, as are Thrifty and Hertz, and their shuttles are still prompt. As a matter of fact, we've encountered long lines at Alamo even at 12:30 and 1 a.m.!

Most, if not all, of the onsite rental agencies at Orlando airport are open 24/7.
Thrifty is offsite. I am sure they list their hours on their website.
Check under locations.

I'm currently in the same boat as you. Our flight from Dulles gets in right at midnight. I've called all the major rental companies and they're all open 24/7 at the airport.
FYI, I'm holding res w/Budget, Alamo and Dollar. They all seem to be the cheapest with my Costco or BJ's membership! Right now I'm leaning towards Alamo only because they don't seem to charge for an additional driver.

Good luck!

So glad to hear they're open! I figured it'd be easier to ask around here rather than call each agency I'm considering and asking them. Thanks guys!

National cancels out the reservations sometime after midnight. Make sure you list your flight information when you make your reservation.

BTW 24/7 applies to MCO. The agencies at Sanford close early.
