Hi All
As i continue to mull over which hotel to stay in for the first week in April 07, I am considering hiring a car for the 4 nights. As there are 3 adults, 2 kids and our 1 year old baby, we would need a 7 seater and have priced a Zafira for around €280. The reason I am considering it is we are strongly thinking of an off site hotel such as the Dream Castle Hotel or the Hotel L'Elysée Val d'Europe. I know both operate shuttles etc but I think I would like the flexibility of being in control of our own time planning particularly with the one year old. Also there are varying reviews of the shuttle service, and I dont know if I could be bothered pushing and shoving for the last buses as well as the unpredictable timetable (as per user reviews). Perhaps having the car parked nearby could be handy for extra feeds etc or even just to take a break. I also think the latter hotel may offer more access to shops, better value restaurants etc.
And even if we dont go with the car hire option, I understand the Hotel L'Elysée Val d'Europe is very near to the RER station which is only a stop or 2 to the parks. Has anyone done the car hire from CDG and is it worth it ?

We have hired a car on the last 2 visits the first time was from Beauvais which was so much easier, but we liked having it so much that we had one this december from Orly. It gave us the chance to go shopping and to other places that we wanted to visit. I am sure on any vist over 2 nights we will now have a car.
One small thing to bear in mind if you have a Dream AP you can park in the hotel New york rather than the Park car parks. This is especially useful if you are visiting the Disney village at night as it is less far to walk in the cold.

I havent hired one at CDG but I do drive my own to Disney for the day. The nice thing about a car is you are free to move about at your own schedule. If you do take a car, follow the signs to the Disney Village / Gaumont parking. Its covered timed parking and is MUCH closer to the park entrance than the standard disney lot. I paid a little over 7 euros for 8 hours of parking there. Your transfer to / from cdg would also be much easier with a car unless you are map challenged.

That said, The hotel Elysee is only one RER stop on the RER from disney and you are also right on top of a big mall so you would have lots of options on foot from that hotel.

Hi ,We were at the hotel l'elysee in october and i can thoughly recommend it ,the shuttles to and from the park are very frequent ,the hotel is lovely and the rooms are spotlessly clean,it is situated across from the large shopping mall which has lots of lovely shops and places to eat,it also opens late at night. The rer station is about 1 mins walk from the hotel,we went for a day trip into Paris ,it was so easy to travelabout with the day pass,it was so good we are thinking of going back in March

Hi Folks - great replies, cheers.
Kevinsmum - how did you get to hotel l'elysee from your arrival point and how would you recommend us getting there from cdg bearing in mind there are 5 of us including a 1 year old with buggy etc. Also, where did you get the best rate for the hotel ? have to say the day trip to Paris is very tempting - we are over for 3 full days so maybe 2 in the parks and 1 in Paris...

Hi Hazel,we used a transfer company transerial to get from CDG to the hotel elysee there were 4 adults and 4 kids and it cost 100 euros ,it was well worth it,the minivan was very spacious and the driver was very friendly and very punctual,we went to paris on the train, the station is about 1 min from the hotel and its very easy to get round paris, the hotel also run a frequent shuttle bus to disney too, hope this helps ,if you need more info feel free to contact me

Sorry forgot to say we booked the hotel through expedia ,i found it to be the cheapest

I would not hire a car but use a taxi whenever you have to go from the
Disney Resort.
The Disney Shuttle busses are great and I think you are more on
the resort then you will see your car...

have fun at Disney :)

That's great - thanks for the info.
I think ye have made my mind up for me - forget the car hire and go with the shuttle transfer - probably go with Hotel L'Elysée Val d'Europe because of the location to the shops etc. Also have 2 options for transport to parks i.e. train and free bus. Kevinsmum - one last question re rooms at hotel. I understand they do family rooms - do you know what these consist of bed-wise ? I am waiting for a reply from the hotel - a family room is €10 dearer than a double.
It does mention on their website that some rooms can be connected to cater for larger groups.

Hi ,We were in a family room ,it has 2 double beds in itand is quite spacious, the bathroom is a good size too,the only thing i would say is that there is a fridge and everytime you open up the door it adds items to your bill, our kids were old enough not too open it but my friends kids were small and kept opening the fridge and she had to explain to reception
