Car Hire Deposit at MCO Question [Dollar]

I have booked car hire with Airline Network for Dollar for three weeks all inclusive of taxes, insurance and other related charges from October 19th, I knew you had to have a credit card and I hsve got one but I thought they just used it for ID, but it appears they block out a charge as well, any ideas why and how much.
I did try Airline Network but got two different answers, the reason I am asking is I got my cc bill through and to my horrer I am nearly maxed out due to paying for Orlando,[the cc company appear not to want to increase it] just worried I will get there and they try and take a large deposit and it is refused and I cannot get the car.

Anyone know the answers?

Hi Chris,

We paid for 3 weeks car hire through Airline Network for Dollar at MCO. They did take a credit card swipe but they did not block or use any money on it.

I thought they did this in case you returned the car late (for example) or if you used more petrol than you should have (for example) which they would then bill to your CC. We had no extra charges so nothing was billed to my CC by Dollar.

Thanks for your reply You are right you do not get billed unless you are late etc but I think they put a hold on an amount so you still need the credit available just the same as hotels etc, I am ok as long as it is not an excessive amount.

Maybe I should just chill out we are going to be there in less than 30 days

We have always used Dollar through Airline Networks and have never had any kind of block put on our credit card. They can take our cc for ID purposes but they wont have much luck putting a block on any money as its maxed out already

I had a car with them in August and paid for the tank of petrol and extra driver when booking (I think this is platinum or something like that) and did not have to produce a card to be swiped at all.

I thought it better value to pay this minimal amount (I think it was about £25 in this country - rather than pay the maxed up rate for petrol when we arrived) and I had the keys to my car within 10 mins of arriving at the Dollar desk no hassle at all!

I have the same deal with dollar via airline network, the platinum package was added free of charge, ok good news thank-you.
