Was wondering if any could help regarding returning a rental car at the car care centre. Is there a way of getting to the resorts without being charged an arm and a leg to get there?LOL

Also, if one was to rent a car from there, would they bring the car to you or would you have to go there?

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated, since I can't continue planning our August "Camping Trip" at the AKL until the hours come out:rolleyes: !

Can I assume you are planning to rent from National? You could also pick up a car at the Dolphin resort - which is very easy to get to from Epcot or MGM. I have rented cars at the Orlando airport and dropped them off at the Dolphin, but have never been to the Car Care Center.

I did not realize that the Dolphin was an option.

If I use the Dolpin then I can use Disney Transportation to get to AKL? HMMMM. Sounds like a plan.

Thanks again.

To get to AKL from the Dolphin, you can either take the boat to MGM and the bus to AKL, or take the bus to the Animal Kingdom and another bus to AKL.

three suitcases in tow?

Let's hope I can get a really good rate for a weekly rental!LOL

Thanks again.

You want to rent at the airport and return it at WDW? I would drop off your luggage at AKL and then return the car at the Dolphin or Car Care Center. They have shuttles from the car care center to anywhere on Disney property. Same if you want to pickup there, they will pick you up and take you to the car care center to rent your car. You mentioned a weekly rate - why don't you pickup the car at the airport and return it there? National is right on airport property, you just cross the street and pickup your car. Alamo, Avis, Dollar and L&M are also at the airport.

DebbieB. I guess the coffee had not kicked in yet!LOL

Makes more sense to drop off luggage first!

I think this is the plan I will go with!

Thanks for all the great ideas!

The rental companies will shuttle you to/from you resort. Just be sure to reserve on line and make sure you print your confirmation and take it along. National "lost" my ressie when I went to pick up my car at the car care center, and the rate was almost double what I had. I was NOT a happy camper, but they had me by the..... I will NEVER USE NATIONAL AGAIN.

Do they still have a drop off at the Dolphin? I thought that stopped almost two years ago.
In January 2002, we rented a car from National (AE) at MCO. A few days later we returned it at the CCC putside of MK. Dolphin was no longer a drop off even then. It was moved to CCC.
It was very simple.
Even in the not busy season, we walked into CCC and there was a long line of people waiting to pick up rentals. And all looked frustrated and rolling their eyes. Not a good sign.
Just to our right (as we walked in) there was an open door with a few employees sitting and chatting. One man was walking out and we asked if we had to stand in that line just to return a car. He said no, and showed us where the drop off was at the open door. (He had to kinda shut the door to show is the box.)
We handed him the keys and he asked if we needed a ride anywhere. We said, "YES!"
He drove us to the park of our choice (MGM) and dropped us off. Personal van ride and at no charge.
Very smooth transaction.

The Dolphin was not available for National drop-offs when we visited in November 2001, but it was in November 2002.
