The Pirate thread got me wondering..has anyone heard if they are ever going to bring Captain Jack back?! Gosh, he's so popular, not only with the kids, I can't see why they would take him away to begin with :confused3 Next month will be DS3 first trip and I'm super excited about taking him. He believe's he's a pirate. I know he will love POTC and the Pirates Lair but nothing would compare too seing his face if he met Jack.

Supposedly they took him away b/c of the behaviour of the guests around him.

I think they took him away b/c spoilsport silly guests who got their feelings hurt b/c a PIRATE didn't act like Mickey Mouse and complained about it.

Then again, it seems a bit of a coincidence that THREE (four?) fairies show up and Jack goes away...stupid budget.

I think it was a matter of he was almost more hassle then he was worth for all the reasons Bumbershoot mentioned. Especially when Fairies don't seem to cause as much of a scene with grown woman, or grumps who don't get the character of a pirate either.

I gotta agree with you. I'd much rather have Jack then some fairies tho
I never got a chance to see him in the park :(

HAHAHA. It's amazing what a Disney [character] can do to a grown woman. Some people don't have self control. && I can only imagine the grumps that didn't understand the characteristics. I never got to experience how he was with a crowd. :confused3

Jack was good, but very in character. He would mention Rum (though I think at one point the character was banned from mentioning but I could be wrong), ignore people, act spacey and in general be his character but in a mostly very G manner (no flirting, or bawdiness, just more his disjointed side). Some people did not like this as it could interfer with picture taking, autographs and focus with long lines.

I thought he was great and a fun addition, I had fun with the character but never waited in the long lines to meet him, I mostly watched him from afar or bumped into him and had a two second chat. They did have some good looking guys for Jack and I knew of one of them before he got the role from his visits to the Renaissance Faire as Jack, he was good!

Seriously I don't see him coming back any time soon, I think they want to focus on more of the classics and happy characters especially as they will be cutting down some.

I personally never saw anyone being out of control.

However I did see him ignore some people...now...the people he ignored, that I saw, deserved it absolutely. The main family I saw him ignore...the mom got all in his face about how he WILL sign her kids' books...now, he was joshing with the kids, being a pirate and all...he was signing one of their books at the time that he was acting like he wouldn't! But she got huffy and flat out rude. He finished signing, handed the book back to the child (older...over 10 at least), and turned his back on the family entirely, and did NOT go back to them. We were about the third after that family, so we watched the whole thing.

Other times he wanted to walk around, and people would surround him. The people who were more passive, he would chat with, take pictures with, sign autograph books for...those who were annoying about it would be ignored (though he actually would pay them attention if they just stuck around long enough!).

I absolutely loved it. DS was always very patient with him, and two Jacks gave him some excellent quality time (first time, DS had a sword with him that Jack showed him how to use...second time DS had a light saber keychain that Jack asked DS how to use...it was absolutely wonderful). I wasn't all over Jack, DS was kind and patient...we had a great time.

And I don't mind him talking about rum. :)

Blah blah blah...I'm really sorry you didn't get to see him. I miss him...NOS didn't feel the same when we were there in December. Felt empty. I hope he can come back someday.

Now that's cool!! What a character. Getting kids involved and making them feel special makes me happy :cloud9:

From all the pictures I've seen on the boards, it seems as if he played the part really well. Oh well, maybe one day they will decide to bring him back. Ya never know. Until them, lets keep my fingers crossed DS can see Buzz and Woody in March.

Thanks ladies for your posts =] Gave me a little taste as to what I missed, haha.:lmao:

They probably wont bring him back because of all the young ladies who cant control themselves.

That's a shame about Jack Sparrow. He was the first character my boys asked about when we told them we were going to DL. The remembered chasing him around the island and playing hide and seek. They had a blast!!!!

I didn't know Captain Jack was not at DLR but we saw him last year Pirate's show in MK at WDW. My son got to swordfight Captain Jack. It was really fun!

There was a family that pushed their kid into the show after it had already started. The characters jokingly told him to go back but the mom just laughed and said no. Since they had only picked 5 or 6 kids out of about 40, the rest of the "rule following parents" were visibly annoyed.

The characters pretty much ignored the child and did the show with the other kids. They did not let the kid participate in the fighting scene. They just skipped right over him.

I was sorry for the kid who had idiots for parents but I felt like that mom got what she deserved. The kid was probably 4 or so. I felt sorry for him because he has to spend the rest of his life with that kind of example.

This makes me laugh but I understand it. But its upsetting that people will act either inappropriate in a family park with kids around, or dont seem to get the fact that each character has its own "Personality" or so to speak.

Hopefully they will bring back Jack, as they are apparently going to be doing a spin off type deal of the Pirates of the Caribbean and do the story of Jack Sparrow. Would be kinda disappointing not to bring back such a big character.

There are 5 fairies in DL. When I got my picture taken with Jack over on TSI (it will always be TSI to me), instead of having a formal line, the CM had people stand in a semi-circle around the treasure and let Jack pick who would be next (my friend and I were first because we were already sitting on the treasure waiting for him to show). I thought that was smart because it was a way to positively reinforce the positive value of patience and waiting for your turn in a graceful manner.

Maybe they should hire a Geoffrey Rush look-a-like to portray Captain Barbossa. I don't think his sex appeal is very high, so I doubt there'll be inappropriate behavior from young women. Another thought would be to have Pintel and Ragetti, who I would love to see interact with guests (the Ragetti character could even carry a fake eye in his pocket so that his eye could pop out occasionally).

Love it!

Though...I'm a person with a disturbingly huge crush on Lord Cutler Beckett...so really there's no way to assure that people wouldn't go gaga over Barbossa or even Pintel or Ragetti. :headache:

We only saw him briefly on Pirate's Lair & never got a picture op....but at least I got to see him. (sometimes I think the young ladies forgot it wasn't Johnny Depp) :rotfl:

I miss Captain Jack too :sad1:

The last couple of times I saw him, there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to how he was being handled and it was very confusing. He was just being led around the park by a CM without really stopping for pictures and such. People got right in his face and downright pushy. I questioned the CM asking her if they were going to stop and form a line, but she said they didn't do that. So it was just pandamonium. They should have handled him like they do the other characters.

Thats what I was going to ask about. Did these girls not know he was just some kid from Anaheim? :confused3

Wow. This made me want to cry. I get that the characters HAVE to act that way, or else everyone is going to start crashing the shows, but that poor baby must have been so sad! I cannot imagine doing something like that to my own child.

Ya know, after thinking about it, people always bring up the point of girls acting unsavory towards Jack and that's a big reason why he's gone, but there have been instances where men have not behaved themselves around female characters (one story that comes to mind is of a guy in Tokyo Disneyland who tried to drag Cinderella away from her handlers and Prince Charming), so how that really can be a strong reason for kicking Jack out? Yes, you will have fan mania for a while, but that's to be expected. It's not as if they treated him like the fairies and had him in one remote spot where you couldn't see him until after you made it through the whole line and there's multiple handlers to keep people in check. The whole thing just seems poorly thought out by Disney (they could have done something about the m&g spot on the island since they knew what sort of crowd he was drawing, numbers and such, before they remade TSI) and they never made a serious effort to curtail the problems (almost as if they were begging for a scapegoat). So, it's another case of Disney 1, consumers 0.
