We're staying at the Beach Club and want to eat back at the resort one night. I'm looking for feedback. I like the idea of variety on the buffet but on the flipside a sit down meal is always nice!

We went to Cape May this year for the first time and it's one of the ones we are STILL talking about. It was fantastic. Everything was very fresh, they just kept steaming food right there by the buffet, so the seafood never sat long.

We had the best crab legs EVER. And our waitress was the best we've ever had. I wish I could remember her name, but I remember her nametag said that she was from Sunshine, FL (what a GREAT name for a town!).

I can't say anything about the other restaurant because we've never eaten there. We will definitely be going back to Cape May next time. :)

I've been a longtime fan of Captain's Grille, but we enjoy the Cape May dinner buffet too.

If I was travelling with children or with hungry male mammals, I would probably choose Cape May over Captain's just because of the variety and all-you-can-eat nature of the experience.

Service at both is good, and food is good at both although the dessert menu at Captain's seems to appeal greatly to my regular travelmates moreso than what is offered at the buffet (which is natural, since buffets historically do not concentrate on their dessert selections :rotfl: ) I can't comment on that since I rarely eat dessert in either location.

oooh tough call... 2 of my faves.

i would say if you have kids... the buffet is easier.

if not... the captain's grille is a really nice, even somewhat romantic meal. the food is great and it's my 2nd favorite restaurant next to yachtsman. cape may is my 4th favorite with mama melrose being in between :)

We have done both and both are very good but we prefer the Clam Bake because DH can eat his weight in little necks and crab legs and the ribs are fantastic

We like Cape May for breakfast and for clam bake dinner.
Captain Grille has steaks and other items and you also will be close to Yacht Club Steak house but that is 2 TS and was not as good last February as usual.
Beeches and Cream is also close and wonderful for Ice cream treats...not taking away their hamburgers and hot dogs etc. BUT not worth a TS for them. Would prefer to just buy the  split: enjoy dance3:

I like both to an extent but prefer Cape May Cafe. Captain's Grille is perfect for the night you return from the parks and feel too tired to move, but I don't consider it a destination. Cape May is a bit better than the average Disney buffet.

We ate at Cape May last week and we loved it. Lots of variety and the garlic mashed potatoes and the crab legs kept me extremely happy. Great desserts too - I think I had 4 of the mini lava cakes.

I would suggest the Cape May Cafe. We had the same dilemma when we were planning, we wanted to eat somewhere on the Boardwalk and came down to these two. In the end we made the decision to go to the buffet because we decided that it would be easier and we could try a few different things. The Captains Grille has a crab legs entree, and you can have as many as you want at Cape May so that's a bit of a bonus!

In the end it really depends on what kind of dining suits you.

It's DS12's favorite TS meal....even above The Yachtsman & Shula's now.
