Captain EO rumors and news?

Hello All

I was just reading the MouseSavers newsletter that I received this morning and it had this under Disneyland Closures/Refurbishments:

"Honey I Shrunk the Audience" (Disneyland) closed through 1/28/11 due to the temporary return of "Captain EO."

Does this mean that Captain EO is only running through January 28, 2011?
What do you think will replace it? Any rumors floating around yet?

Hopefully they will replace it with something better than "Honey I shrunk the audience" , I have been shrunk just one too many times.....

I can't see them putting back "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience"...every time I've watched the Captain EO show, the theater has been full or near full. It'd be kind of silly to put back a show that only ever had a few people in the audience for the past several years. I hope that when the Captain EO show has finished its run, something new, of quality, that fits into the theme of Tomorrowland takes its place.

I would suspect they would put something in that has to do with their newer movies. I doubt they'd put Honey I Shrunk The Audience in again. It will be sad to see Captain EO go though, if it does. I made sure to see that at least twice when I went.

i do not see in the future of them putting HISTA back in. I think Captian EO is here to stay, his ship has landed!!

I don't see them putting HISTA back but I have no desire for them to keep Captain EO either. It would be great if they could put something relavent in.

I was thinking that also. I've never seen it heard good things about it. Could they make it fit with the Tomorrowland theme? I don't know what land they have it in at WDW.

Either that, or I hope they come up with something completely new and different and spectacular that only DL has.

At one point a year or two ago Disney decided to bring Philharmagic to DCA to replace the Muppets 3D as part of the DCA refurb. Then they found out there were stuctural issues with the building to make it happen and so they put in on the back burner.

Maybe some type of Tron show would be better placed in the Magic Eye Theater. Or even something without a movie tie-in. I know people like movie tie-in's but I would love something original and innovative.

A 3-D Tron show would be so cool!

And fit in with the theme of Tomorrowland.

EO gets 2x as many guests as HISTA did. The date in Mousesavers is just because the end date is unknown so they pick early next year - standard website formula.

I read a news release somewhere that is closes in February.
It didn't mention what is going to replace it though.

I don't think it will go anywhere this soon, they must still be making a nice buck on merchandise.

I sure do hope they keep it on until after March 1st. My kids have never seen it, and DS1 is a huge MJ fan. And it will also be gone by the time we go back to WDW in 2012...

Can't see it going anytime soon either. They have replaced HISTA with EO not only in DLR, but also WDW and DLRP - such was MJ's popularity - maybe we'll get the usual English translation headphones in Paris. We're going to all 3 Disney parks next year so DD will see it 3 times which she will love. I am not so keen, it must be said (saw it this year in DLR but also 20 years ago in WDW and it's definitely showing its age) - would love Philharmagic to be shown instead when it comes to the end of its run, although there are a couple of great shows in Paris called Cinemagique and Animagique which would be worthy successors.

I really hope they keep Captain EO for just a little longer. I really want to see it, we skipped that attraction on my first trip, and by my second trip it was replaced with HISTA. We are going in 2011, probably a weekend in May.

I normally like Disney stuff, but I can't stand HISTA. It's really lame, has bad effects (does anyone actually LIKE feeling like stuff is crawling on them? I don't), and I have no interest in ever seeing it again. I saw it 3 times and that was more than enough for me. Once was too many, but I was a kid so I had to go when my dad decided to show his friends how "great" the ride was. Yuck.

I would prefer something with Mickey or the Disney Characters. Something fun that you feel like it belongs in Disneyland.
