It reopened at DL a few months ago to a lot of fanfare and from what I see online, it's been holding decent numbers of people wanting to see the show again. Some people find it in bad taste that they brought it back, capitalizing on his death and second, because of all the child molestation charges that were never proved.

I'm from the camp of, I loved Michael Jackson and I never got to see Captain EO when it first was in the parks, so I'm excited to see it in October. Our entire group who's going has never seen it either. Hell, they've never been to Disneyland, but that's another thread I need to start. lol Organizing this trip is causing what little hair I have left to fall out.

Are you all excited about EO coming back to Epcot? It opens today. :)

I vaguely remember seeing Captain Eo at DLR whe I was a kid, and I'm psyched to see it at Epcot later this month. :cool1:

I loved it at Epcot back when I was a kid, and I'm super excited that it's back.

And when you factor in inflation, it's still the most expensive movie ever made (per minute of film), of course when you look at the crew it's no wonder...

Music:
Michael Jackson (songs)
James Horner (score, he also did the scores for the original Star Trek movies, Avatar, Titanic, and many others)

Stars:
Michael Jackson
Angelica Houston
Dick Shawn (some of you young'uns might not recognize him LOL)

Director:
Francis Ford Coppola

Executive Producer:
George Lucas

Writer/Producer:
Rusty Lemorande (who worked on Caddyshack, Yentl [with Barbara Streisand], and the 1989 Journey to the Center of the Earth).

Some of the biggest names in Hollywood at the time (and even today), Captain EO cost an estimated $23.7 million...for a 17 minute film.

I want to see it! I'll be at WDW in early November. I could probably look this up myself, but does anyone know if they've said how long it will run?

We've not ever seen this... will be something new for us to track down when next we are willing to brave the heat, the guests and the park...

I actually saw it Wednesday morning. Had gotten some friends in the park and walked them over to The Land so they could get Soarin' fast passes. As I was walking back a CM was saying that guests could go see the preview. So I headed over and saw it. It brought back a lot of memories. I did hear from someone our version is better than Disneyland's. He said the seats at Disneyland do way too much bouncing to the music. When I came out of the theater news crews had filled up the exit area doing interviews (apparently the show before the one I saw had been the press showing).

I saw it yesterday at Epcot. I thought there was going to be a huge line. Ended up just walking in. It was pretty cheesy, but still enjoyable. I think Michael was only about 26 when it was done (he looks way too much like Janet!). :goodvibes

Have they said how long this will run? I have no idea when I am getting back to WDW :sad2: I don't have any current plans.

I know at DL, they're basically running it until the popularity runs our and/or they find a perm replacement, which DL is working on. I'm not sure about Epcot, but I'm sure it will at least run through the end of the year and possibly into next year I would imagine.

I'll be glad to see it again in October - or sooner.

If showing Captain EO is "capitalizing on his death," then so are the music videos and TV specials - including the Larry King Live interview with Jermaine.

I can take it or leave it.

I was never a big Michael Jackson fan. If Captain EO is still showing next summer then I am sure we'll see it just to see it.

My friend is a huge MJ fan and she's really jealous I'll be seeing this when I go in december.

It's replacing honey I shrunk the audience, and it's there for the rest of this year and probably part of next year.

There is a short preview video of it on youtube and they did show a gift shop in front of the ride and they said it will have fast pass. Also one of the CM's that work there had a sequined silver mickey glove on!! It was so cute! I hope they sell those! My friend would love it!

Cocnkahuna, your video of the bird stealing the chips is hilarious!! That's a smart bird, he was hungry so he helped himself! :rotfl:

Interestingly, I was at Tokyo DL when the park opened the other day. There is no real early admission there, but they do allow guests staying at Disney resorts into DL 15 minutes early. The locals line up for a true "race to space" type of experience.

I was walking into Tomorrowland when the gates opened for everyone and was surprised to see the vast majority of people running into Tomorrowland were going to Captain EO and not Space Mountain. Throughout the day, Captain EO had 60 - 75 minute standby lines and Space Mountain had only 15 - 20 minutes. I was a bit surprised by that.
