I was poking around on Captain Marvin's website, and in the comments section a couple of people mentioned that there was a videographer present and that you could buy the videos from your particular "outing."

Do they do that on every trip, and has anyone here purchased the videos, and how much did they cost?

I bought one from our trip and it came out great...I can't recall the price of it offhand but I know it was not cheap! I will ask my friend who sailed with us last cruise if she rememebers and let you know!! They did a really good job on it though!

OK, my friend says she thinks it was around 79.00....

Holy cow! :earseek: I think it would be great to have a video (without lugging my own equipment) but yikes! Oh well, I'm glad I know now....that way I have time to decide if I really want it and I don't just do an automatic "You want HOW much?? No way!!" I would hate to get home and then really wished that I had purchased the video.

Thanks for the info!

I actually bought it and then found out someone on the DIS was on the same boat and didn't get a copy so I burned them a copy of it and sent it to them!

Well, aren't you nice! How 'bout you come on our cruise, and do the same thing for us?! ;)

Oh that reminds me....how many people are usually on each trip? Someone on Capt. Marvin's comment page said there were around 30-something people...does that sound about right?

We bought the DVD of our excursion with Captain Marvins for 60.00 back in Nov. Actually, we split the cost with our friends and then burned a copy for them. And what a great DVD, they add cool island music and I always have it playing when I'm cleaning the house or wishing I was still there.

I'm pretty sure our trip had less than 30 people. They were great. I would highly recommend Captain Marvins!

I love these boards....all of the positive posts about Captain Marvin's are the reason I'm planning to book with them! Otherwise I might not not have felt as "safe" going with a non-Disney excursion.

60 bucks is still a little steep, but I think I'll end up getting the DVD. I know I'll be kicking myself if I don't! (And it's "vacation money." Vacation money always spends a little easier than "at home money!" )

We did Cpt Marvin's in 2003 and also ordered the DVD, including p&p to Europe it was $66 and the best: We returned to Germany immediately after the cruise and the DVD arrived just two days later!!!

We also got the DVD - around $60.00 sounds right. You pay for it then and they mail it to you later. When we first got on board I told the video guy that we wanted to buy the DVD and to be sure to film us. He said ok. Once we got it and watched it another family on the boat is most of the show! There are some scenes of us, but much more a vacation tape of people we don't even know. They don't edit it just for you - it is of everyone that was on your boat. It is good though - it has scenes of the day - the fish in the water, etc... I still think it was worth it. We still enjoy watching it.

I wondered about that! I mean, I figured that the whole boat would get the same DVD, but you'd think that they would "split the time" on it between the people! Oh well, as long as my kids are in it a little bit, I think they'll be pleased. Plus just seeing the place that they've been will be cool.

Thank you guys for all your input! :flower:

We bought the DVD from our excursion last year. It was $60 and was around 45 minutes if I remember.

There was a lot of footage of everyone on the boat. Part was everyone waving hello to the camera and another part was each person kissing a sting ray.

The majority of the DVD was filmed underwater at the three stops. There are lots of opportunities to be seen during that footage. If you want to be seen a lot, swim around near the cameraman. You may also want to see where he is swimming since he knows the good spots to look at.

We paid $60 for our DVD this past Nov. There were about 20-25 people I'd guess on our boat?
The video was neat because there were "creatures" :fish: swimming in the water with us that we weren't even aware of. We found out there was a moray eel hiding in some rocks right around where we snorkeled. Our videographer really got close to it. We felt the memories were well-worth the $60---but if you can split the price with someone, then that's even better. I *think* the VHS tape was in the $45-$50 range.

I'm thinking of possibly doing Captain Marvin's too--maybe we can split the DVD!! :wave2: LOL! Burning sounds like something my DH would know how to do! Not me :sad2: , I'm computer stupid! :rolleyes1 :confused3 :badpc:

Hello this is my firsst time cruising with Disney, I am not quite understanding the video. Is this video done on the ship and are they video taping everyone? If you purchased the video did you see your family on the video? I would love to purchase a video ...but I would like to see my family on it a few times :)

What ship is this on? I am cruising on the Magic in August (West Coast) do you think it will be availeble on that cruise? I am not sure who Captain Marvin is. I read that there was video taping at Castaway.....too bad we won't be able to visit Castaway.

Oh did I mention how I love these threads :) you learn something new everyday :rotfl:

We just went about 2 weeks ago and only paid $55 for our DVD on Capt. Marvins. We are still waiting though. They said it would be aboput 2-3 weeks. Hope it comes soon!!! FYI my MIL bought us the Dolphin excursion DVD (in Cozmel) and it was $35 plus you get it right away. HTH :flower:

We just returned from the 4/9 Western cruise on the Magic and we also went on Captain Marvin's half day snorkel trip.
The VHS was $50 and the DVD was $60, and the price included shipping to your home. The guy taking the video was very nice and got shots of everyone on our trip, and was not pushy about selling the video either, which was nice.
If I had to guess I would say there were around 25 people on our boat. We had Captain Marvin himself driving us!

JayCee32- Captain Marvin's is a well known scuba and snorkeling tour operator in Grand Cayman- it is an independent tour that you book on your own- not through DCL. I think it is just very well known and many people from the DIS boards have gone on their tour. The video everyone is talking about is the one taken strictly while you are on your tour in Grand Cayman. Hope this helps!
If anyone has any questions since I just got back, feel free to ask me !
