You all asked for it and here it is. My name is Becky and I'm a carb-a-holic, but I am bound and determined to lose 75lbs by our cruise. Gonna get my magic back!
I'm working with a personal trainer for the next few months, so I hope this gets better. It doesn't hurt that he looks like Orlando Bloom.![]()
OOh so where is this "Orlando Bloom" trainer?![]()
I too am a portly wench....
Hope to solve that shortly...
I'm having a type of gastric surgery on Thursday the 8th...
Don't give me the diet/exercise crap...Tried it and guess what...
if i don't starve myself and go to the gym EVERY day...nothing happens
So yes this is a last resort...
The worst part is that i probably can't return to my current gym classes (spinning and powerflex) for a couple months...I despise walking but that's probably all i'll be cleared for at first...
If i live through this i should lose between 70-80% of my excess weight within 12 months.. (most in the first 6 months)
We'll see...Wish me luck...
While you gals can have skinny cows on WW. I'll be stuck with pureed foods and liquids for a month.
I was underweight most of my life and was on diets to gain weight. I use to be able to eat a tray of brownies & whatever else I wanted...although those cravings came around every 4 weeks or so. I gained over 40 pounds with each pregnancy and lost it all by my 4 week check up just by living...never exercised. DD pushed my hips out so I had to move up from the size 4s to the 6s after she was born...but I was fine with that and stayed 125-130 at 5'5". Last year DH was gone 10 1/2 months from Sept 05 - 06 for graduate school internships & classes. The kids didn't adjust to it well and PTO stressed me to the limits. I stepped down from that after spring break & finished my commitments by early May. I started my freedom by finally starting to decorate the kid's rooms in Princess & Buzz space themes with stamps & stick ons for the wall...nothing strenuous at all. Tuesday morning I woke up feeling ready to face the world for the first time in a very long time. I had a great day! Wednesday morning I woke up & tried to get out of bed but had chest pains. This progressed to include all the classic symptoms for a heart attack in a woman. I dropped the kids off at school & went around the corner to my doctor's office where a parent I knew from the school got me in the back very quickly. They ran bloodwork, xrays, ekg and my heart was fine even though it was still getting worse. After a cardiocatscan & ultrasound that was totally cleared & it was diagnosed with a severe anxiety attack. Of course I stopped working out after this happened and it took 3 weeks to finish the testing. I resisted taking meds until August when I just couldn't handle it anymore. Between the stress and the meds I have put on 15 pounds. I have tried slimfast drinks and the meal bars but I haven't lost anything. I need to kick myself in the pants to get back to the Y so that I can change this.

I don't blame you a bit. If this diet doesn't work this time, I might have to seriously consider surgery. I told my DH that if I lose all the weight I want, I'm going for a lifestyle lift & a full body lift. No matter how much weight I lose or work outs I do, my skin will never go back into shape.
Is that a little TMI?
I was quite depressed recently to be specifically labeled overweight. I've always been teased as being underweight. DH and I recently joined a gym and I took a Polar BodyAge assessment. I'm 31 and it said my body age is 39. It also had a graph indicating my body mass index squarely in the overweight category and my body composition (% of fat) nearly in the very high category.
So, I'm looking to loose 20-30 pounds, at least. Has anyone else done the Polar BodyAge assessment? They offer it on the cruise...
My current stats:
Biometrics Height - 5'5"
Biometrics Weight - 160 lbs
Biometrics Body Mass Index - 26.6 kg/m(squared) (Overweight)
Cardiovascular - Max VO2 - 29.0 ml/kg min(Low)
Bicep Strength - 42 lbs (Average)
Sit and Reach - 10.0 inches (Poor)
Body Composition - 33.9% fat (High)
Overal Fitness - 33.3% (Fair)
