We have one night yet to plan for table service dinner. It's me, my DH and our 3yo DD (with food allergies)

Just wondering what the concensus is on these three different places. We've never been to any of them.

TIA!

ETA: If you have been to two of more of the above places mentioned...why do you choose the one over the other/s?

At Boma, I've seen a chef going through the whole buffet line with people to point out what they can/can't eat due to allergies. I've also seen them make special food for people as well.

There's no comparison. Boma and Spoodles offer adventurous cuisine. Capt Jack's is a below-average seafood restaurant such as you'd find in your hometown.

Thank you, both!

The more I think about it the more I am leaning toward Boma...esp as this will be our Animal Kingdom day and I just read, as if I didn't know - it just didn't dawn on me, that's its five minutes by bus to AKL.

That is GREAT to read about the chef going through the buffet! That's exactly the kind of thing I think I am going to love about dining at Disney.

I know I'll be the odd man out.. but we've never eaten at Spoodles and our last recent trip we ate at both Boma's and Capt Jacks... we'd prefer Capt Jacks. ESPECIALLY if you are on the dining plan (we paid for ours, even better if you get the dining plan free!).
I really can't figure out the following for Boma's... none of us liked it that much. The food wasn't that great (and I tried just about everything to see if I could find something I would like) and although the desserts were yummy- that's a high price to pay for a dessert when you're a large 4+ family! Our waittress left much to be desired also. (although I did see other families with what appeared to be great service from their waittresses- so we may have just had bad luck on that. I think that bad luck followed us as I saw at other restaurants the same thing... less than desirable waitress for us, saw others that were great though. :( )

But capt Jacks we had a decent waitress (nothing spectacular but did her job and nothing to complain about) and the food was great! But we were on the dining plan so we had the expensive appetizers (delicious shrimp cocktail and crab cakes/etc.) and we had the lobster tail dinners (we all loved it!) and the desserts were delicious also!

We'd pick Capt Jacks.. in fact I wish we'd ate there more often- like maybe instead of Boma's. LOL Seriously... we only happened across Capt Jacks as an afterthought because our plans changed on that day due to rain. We ended up at DTD instead of our plans so we cancelled our PS at another restaurant and ate at Capt Jacks instead.

The reason I say if you're on the dining plan (paying or free) is because it was expensive. For just 2 adults (one child eating as adult since she was paid for as an adult on the dining plan) and one child (only one ate... the youngest wasn't hungry and sat there coloring the entire time) was almost $160 with gratuities included. I have to be honest and say I might not be so thrilled with this restaurant if I'd actually had to pay that amount for 2 adults/1 child! LOL
But even on the dining plan we were all disappointed with Boma. I never could find anything that really tasted great (except maybe the "rice" that wasn't really rice with black eyed peas put over it- that was alright LOL) and my kids don't have children's palates. They do NOT want to eat chicken strips or mac and cheese at every meal.... but at Bomas there wasn't anything like a 'normal' adult food for them to eat. It was either child's junk food buffet or adult buffet with a bunch of weird stuff they wouldn't eat after the first bite (and again- they aren't picky children... most of this stuff I didn't like the taste of either except dessert). And the food was cold to medium warmth straight off the buffet too.

Out of those 3, BOMA!! :)
Spoodles is 2nd choice and Capt jacks is horrible-wouldnt recommend!!

Agreed.

nothing is as bad as captn jack's in my area. as i have said before run, don't walk as far as you can from captn jack. yuck! :earboy2:

Boma.. it's more than just dinner, it'sthe whole atmosphere of the hotel, seeing the animals etc... it is noisy, vibrant place, you don't have to worry about hushing a little one

BOMA which seems to be the winner. I would put Spoodles last on the list, although I haven't been to Captain jacks. We absolutely hated Spoodles, not because of the service or atmosphere. It was the all-important FOOD. We were thoroughly disappointed.

Thanks for all the responses and votes. Boma is definitely the winner, and what we have chosen to go with. I am so excited! When we went back in '98 if I recall we only had three table service experiences for a week. I can't tell you what the free dining oppurtunity has meant (what it really means is great food and more money to spend on other stuff, lol)

PamNC! We're from the same town! We used to live in Ardmore and we actually now live in Arcadia but still from "Winston-Salem". kwim. IASW after all ;)
