Capital One Purchase Eraser for Disneyland Tickets

Hi. We will be going to Disneyland next month. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with how Disney codes the transactions for tickets purchased directly from their website?

I have plenty of Capital One points to cover the tickets, but Capital One will not give me any answers on whether or not the Travel Eraser will work for them. All they will do is give me a scripted response about not having any control over how vendors code transactions.

Anybody have any experience with this? I'm certainly not opposed to purchasing the tickets from some other third-party vendor if that will get them coded as travel.

We will be staying at Staybridge Suites since I'm an IHG member and we want to prepare some of our own meals.

FWIW, we have successfully used capital one travel eraser for past WDW resorts and park tickets without any problems so I would assume it will also work just fine for DLR tickets.

Have you used it to buy tickets alone, or only packaged with accommodations?

I don't know if this is of any help to you, but here is my experience on a related issue: Once when we traveled to DisneyWorld, our credit card was offering an extra percentage back on "travel" categories. Everything that got charged to our Disney room (package deal, food that was charged back to the room, etc.) qualified for the extra rebate - because it came through a hotel/resort. Anything purchased directly from the park (meals that we swiped the card at the restaurant, an additional day that we added to our tickets at guest services, etc.) did NOT qualify because it was in the Dining or Entertainment category.
So in your circumstance, I would be worried tickets bought from Disney without being part of a package might not qualify...

This thread may help you.
Thanks, I had already perused that thread before posting, but it actually addresses tickets purchased through Undercover Tourist. Undercover Tourist doesn't sell Disneyland tickets, only Walt Disney World tickets, so unfortunately I can't use them to purchase my tickets. . :(

I e-mailed Disney and they responded that they will code a purchase of tickets through their websites as "theme park tickets," which Capital One says I cannot use my miles for. I guess if I could purchase them through the hotel or something I might be able to get around that, but I'm not counting on being able to use my points for them. :(

I'm going to continue to see if there is a way to get around this, maybe by purchasing them through the hotel or something. However, it's looking more and more like we're just going to have to pay out of pocket for the tickets. At least I know that we'll get our hotel stay for free.

There are alot of hotels there that sell tickets, so maybe ...

Have you tried GetAwayToday?

Wow, they have some pretty good deals! :) Thanks for the tip. I just called them and they told me that even if I but just tickets from them, they will code the transaction as travel. They still recommended that I call Capital One, though. I guess I'll call Capital One again to see if I can get some sort of a straight answer. I'm feeling a little more hopeful now. :)

I’ve seen others ask this same type of question but I don’t think anyone has posted a definitive answer. The only thing we do seem to know is that Capital One doesn’t want to disclose anything! If you have lots of points with them, you could always use them (fully or partially) for Target gift cards and churn those Target cards into Disney gift cards. Then you would have some food and souvenir money for enjoying DL!

ETA: You can also get a Landry’s card on their site, which you could use at Rainforest Café.
