Hello All!! My husband and I will be visting WDW in December of this year - can't wait to see all the Holiday Decorations!!! I am preparing my ADR's as I can make them on June 1st - yay!!!! I have a question regarding the Cape May Seafood Buffet - has anyone ate there and is it worth it?? I have ready so many mixed reviews. My husband and I both love seafood. :) What types of seafood are available on the buffet? Thanks so much for your help!!!

I arranged for a group of my girlfriends to go to DW for a long weekend. We ate at Cape May and I was not impressed at all (an embarrassed that I picked the restaurant).

I was there in Jan with my son and decided to give it another try and I left with the same impression. Maybe it's just me, but I won't be trying it again.

We have eaten there twice and we have another reservation made for our upcoming trip in October. We LOVE it. Coming from New England, we know good seafood and have plenty of it and we can honestly say everything here was very good. They offer the Alaskan King Crab legs (steamed) which are delicious, my DH loves the mussels and clams and of course the peel and eat shrimp, they offer fish and clam/seafood chowder. The seafood is prepared "clam boil" or "clam bake" style which is all steamed. Seasonings in a clambake are pretty simple - no specials broths, just steamed but all the seafood was very fresh and very plentiful. They offer a bunch of other options for those who aren't seafood lovers (one of my DD's falls under this category) and she always find plenty to eat. We've eaten at some very good restaurants in Disney and some not so good ones - Cape May is a must do on all our trips - we've yet to have a bad encounter. :)

If you are on the dinning plan and like seafood, this is a NO BRAINER! We have stayed at the Beach Club for the last 6 years and always skipped this buffet, because my wife did not like seafood. Well, on our trip just this past Easter, we were vacationing with another family, whom did like seafood; so we decided that we must try it.

Well, I feel bad that I can not give you a lot of details on all of the other seafood, because I spent 90% of my time consuming 5lbs of snow crab legs plus some peel-n-eat shrimp. The crab legs are restocked and steamed with great efficiency, I do not like them cold. My wife, whom does not like seafood, confirmed it was one of the best buffets she has ever enjoyed and she is not normally a fan of buffets. Also, they have some of the most excellant desserts found in the world. I will making this stop a regular on all future visits!

Yes it is totally worth it! Click on my Feb 10 thread for a ton of buffet pictures

MickeyNicki.....please forgive my ignorance....but I can't find you February 1 post......HELP!!!! (I'm new here):confused3

I went to DW the last two years. This was my favorite ADR out of all of them. Although, I love seafood. My wife and two daughters do not like seafood but they really enjoyed the food and atmosphere also. I highly recommend Cape May. I love visiting the Beach Club Resort too!

Our family loves Cape May!! We ate there twice last Oct. and still wish we'd cancelled another ressie and gone a third time!! The buffet has something for everyone but we all love the steamed crab legs!!

we may be in the minority, but i'm with you. we've eaten there twice in the past year. thought maybe the first was a fluke, so gave it one more try. both times, the food was mushy, lacking flavor, and didn't seem too fresh. the servers were unnatentive - yes, i know it's a buffet, but drink refills / clearing used plates should be more frequent than 20 minute intervals.
i'm originally from new england and like many kinds of seafood, but i have no desire to eat at cape may again. we find flying fish or narcoossee's seafood much better.

My family and I ate at Cape May last August and thought it was one of the best meals we had during our trip! The crab legs were fantastic, the fried shrimp were so yummy and the Oreo Bon Bons were to die for. Even my sister, who barely eats anything, left full! I am hoping to go again on our trip in August!!

I will just take the pan of flan back to my table now!! and eat it with a spoon! the desserts look great as does the rest of the food.

We do this buffet about every other trip. I love the chowder, the salads and the seafood, but the other buffet items are kind of Golden Corral-ly if you know what i mean, but that flan- oh, yes, that flan~! I may get a tiny tattoo of the flan....

My family had mixed reviews. Out of 6, 3 of us loved it... including myself. Also being from the Northeast, and being used to lots of good seafood, it didnt disappoint. Instead of our typical Cod/Clam/Lobster bake, we were delighted by the Crab Legs especially, but the other food choices were good. Everyone did enjoy the dessert, but to be honest, I was too full on crablegs to sample everything I would have liked. Clam chowder didnt compare to the NE up here IMO, but it was good. My 1.5YO at the time eats anything that comes close to his mouth, so he's neutral. My wife and my oldest son didnt love it, but the main reason was that the prepared foods seemed to be heavily peppered (black pepper). Considering they werent into the crab legs as much, I could see their point. . Perhaps the chef just had a heavy hand with the pepper shaker that night. It would be interesting if others felt foods were a bit peppery...

In any case we have a ressie for our June trip there. I'm looking forward to it.

We did this last Wednesday evening. In our group of 10 (including 4 kids) everyone loved it and had a great time. I'd say the biggest disappointment was the crab legs seemed a bit scrawny and were a whole lot of work for relatively little reward, but everything else was great. Loved the Clam Chowder and the peel and eat shrimp.

Completely agree!

Was there in early April and L-O-V-E-D the mahi mahi, fried cod, and clam chowder...and chocolate chip cookies...and mac and cheese...and chicken nuggets...and...........:rotfl:

Does anyone know if the chicken nuggets and fried cod are made "in-house" or are they purchased bulk and cooked?

Would like to add if you are in Epcot the walk over is nothing and quite enjoyable. If you don't want to deal with getting the tram or whatnot when parking at Epcot...if you have reservations at Cape May Cafe you can park there. Once Illuminations is over in Epcot you can scoot over International Gateway and be on your way home before some of the crowd has made it to the tram line. Apologize if this is a "known" tip.

Thought I read somewhere that fried shrimp was on buffet only on certain days...Maybe Mon, Wed, Fri????

We were quite disappointed with our meal there. The food was just as you described and I would add that the crab legs were stringy and dang near impossible to get out of the shells. The service was horrible and it took forever (an hour past our ADR time) to be seated because they claimed to be in the middle of a turn over and they did not seat anyone for almost an hour.

We were hoping that it was just a fluke because we LOVE Cape May for breakfast but I am reading more and more about experiences just like ours.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
We ate at Cape May for the first time last year... 10 days on the DDP and ate there the first night. We loved it so much that we rearranged our schedule to eat there again on our last night. All the Alaskan king crab legs you can eat, a great salad bar, fish, shrimp, roast, and more... and heavenly desserts. For anyone who loves seafood, I can't see how you would not love this place!
