Okay with all these changes at Ohana's I am trying to figure out another restuarant to go to (if I can get an adr) and I was thinking Cape May. What is good and bad about Cape MAy? Also how do I get there from POLY? Can I take a cab, would that be my best bet (5 people)?

We tend to plan our day so we'll be near our restaurant. From the Poly, I would spend time at Epcot before your meal then either walk or take the boat over to the Beach Club. It's a lovely short walk, if it's hot outside, take the boat. :goodvibes You must exit Epcot at the International Gateway just past the UK.

As for Cape May Cafe, well my DS4 enjoys breakfast with Goofy. ;)

If you are big seafood eaters, you'll like the evening clam bake. They have a raw bar with lots of fresh clams, mussels, shrimp, etc...

If you don't LOVE seafood, I say skip it. There's better places in Epcot to dine.

Are you looking at breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

If it's lunch or dinner, you can walk to Cape May Cafe from Epcot, so schedule your meal for an Epcot day. Just go out the International Gateway and walk to Beach Club.

We like Cape May Cafe. We often have breakfast and dinner there. It's a character breakfast, and last year the chef dreamed up a new way to make scrambled eggs. I commented to our server about them, and she told me everyone is sending their compliments to the chef.

And DH loves to go there for dinner since they have clams and mussels.

we love the clambake but I agree, if you are not seafood lovers, skip it.
If you are not going to Epcot that day, you could take a bus to MGM and there is a ferry that goes to the beach club from MGM.
Or, just eat at Cape May when you are at MGM or Epcot, that is what we do.
food and service are great.:thumbsup2

I don't know if you have children, but what we love about Cape May for breakfast is it's not really crowded in the later hours around 10am. We've dined there several times at 10am and DS4 has been able to "hang out" with Goofy. The restaurant has been so empty that Goofy's able to sit and color with DS for at least 15 - 20 mins on several occassions.

I also love the wait staff. They usually insist we take snacks for the road. They have given DS4 (when he was younger) disposable cupfulls of cheerios to go and brought bananas and apples over to our table for us to take with us for the day. Something I would not of done without being told :goodvibes Now I bring Ziplock bags to the buffets to take a little some thing for the kids for snack later in the day. I usually take some cookies if it's lunch, fruit if it's breakfast. I bring small sandwich size bags, I'm not there with gallon size bags emptying the buffet :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh, and I put the snacks on a plate. I don't stand at the buffet shoving the food in my ziplocks! Can you imagine!!

We loved it the first 2 times but the last 2 times they changed the food up a bit and it was cold and dried out...went to the first seating at 5:30 and the food was put out at 5pm so go figure....

I would for sure go again but we are trying Ohana's instead! :rotfl2:

Oh dear! Does that happen? (Thanks for the advanced warning, I'd hate to get caught staring!)

DH & I always go to Cape May during our trips whether we're staying onsite or just day trips. We just were there for dinner in January and the food was fantastic as always. We had one of the first dinner reservations and everything was hot that was supposed to be hot, and cold when it should be cold. The wait staff was fantastic, and the desserts are to die for!! There were lots of families with kids of all ages around us. There seemed to be plenty on the kids part of the buffet for them too, although I saw alot of the kids going for the boiled shrimp, too.

Enjoy!! :goodvibes

Just a comment disagreeing with those that have said to skip Cape may if you're not a seafood lover. I haven't touched the seafood side in about 5 trips there, but Cape May is probably my favorit buffet for the food. The landlubber food is really good, and the desserts are top notch (oreo bon-bons alone make it worth it).

Snurk, I'm so glad to see you post this! We have ADRs there for June because DH and my mom, who is traveling with us, are HUGE seafood lovers. I, on the other hand, can't stand it (and I'm sure my VERY picky 7 year old won't eat it either), so I'm glad to see that we will still have something to eat, LOL! We're going to Le Cellier for me on a different day, so this one is for DH. I do want to be able to eat, though.:)
