How is Cape May Buffet for dinner ?
Would the character breakfast be better at the Cape May Buffet ?

We have not eaten there since 2002.

Thanks !

We recently ate there twice for breakfast. It was great! They have a very large selection of breakfast items and the characters were Minnie, Goofy, and Donald, all in bathing suits! We did not do the dinner buffet, not big seafood eaters. It was always crowded when we walked by though.

We ate there for dinner about 2 weeks ago. DH liked the shellfish (crab legs, mussels, clams and shrimp). We only ate there at his request. The kids and I don't eat shellfish, so it was a waste for us. The other items were not great. The ribs were tough, the carved beef was dry and the side items were nothing special. Salads were the best thing. The kids filled up on mac & cheese and chicken nuggets, but they could get that anywhere. Our server was the best thing about the place. She was very sweet and friendly. If you really like shellfish, it's a good place for dinner, otherwise go for breakfast.

We really enjoyed the breakfast this past September (although we went a little late and I would have picked a slighltly earlier time). But the food was very good and the character interaction was terrific. We've done dinner twice--loved it the first time and thought it was only so-so the second time.

I'd choose breakfast over dinner.

If you are a Sea Food lover, you'll like the dinner buffet. Like an old New England clam bake. My dh was in absolute HEAVEN with the steamers! I on the other hand, DESPISE Seafood, so I ate alot of chicken nuggets and desserts! ;)

We like the seafood buffet -- but it is nothing special. We love love love the character breakfast. It is how we are hoping to conclude our very special Disney vacation this September. We just love it!!!

We have had dinner there the last 3 visits. Just to clarify...there are NO characters at the dinner.

We have 5 picky people to please ...so overall the buffets are a value to us.

I liked the carving station....but it may be hit or miss...there were some delicious BBQ ribs DH loved...kids liked the Boiled Shrimp, kids buffet, and dessert buffet.

I do like the salad buffet....

It's just a standard buffet...much like H&V in DHS...

Yes it does have the mussels and clams...but there are plenty of non-seafood choices... If you have little ones...you might opt for the breakfast.

We enjoy it ...the buffet is enough to feed everyone in the family...but I wouldn't compare it to....say....'Ohana Breakfast experience.....at all....

DW loved it, I just thought it was ok. Reminded me too much of everyday home cookout food (for New Yorkers anyway, you may feel otherwise) so it was decent, just nothing very special to me.

Thank you for all the replies.
DH is our seafood lover - yes he is from NY - so I guess dinner is out at Cpae May, since he is our only seafood lover and I do not do chicken fingers.
Our DS & DD are teens and do more meat and pasta.

We will plan for a breakfast at Cape May.
The characters sound wonderful, since at Chef Mickeys we always miss seeing Minnie. Even our teens asked for an autograph book the next time we go to WDW. Go figure - an 18 year old asking for an autograph:rotfl:- only in WDW !

If we stay at the Dolphin, DH's favorite place, it will be an easy walk for an 8:30 AM ADR. We could do it on our 'go to DTD' day.

If we stay at CSR, our moderate choice, we will do the breakfast after an early entry into EPCOT, maybe a 10:30 AM ADR, if they serve that late.

Thanks again for all your recent reviews !

Never had dinner here but the breakfast buffet is really good. But the best bk buffet in my opinion will always be Chef Mickeys:worship:

We love it. I have a shellfish allergy and there was alot of great choices that were non-seafood as well as great seafood choices for DH.This is a must do for us

I agree this May was the first time I went to Cape Mays for dinner to eat and I really did not know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised and will be adding it to future trips.

This is one restaurant I wanted to try for a long time, but never had the chance since my DH has a seafood allergy. A couple of weeks ago I took a trip to the world with my brother and my DS. This was the perfect opportunity for me to book Cape May since none of us on this trip had any allergies to contend with. We loved the dinner! I could have sat there all night eating the crab legs and shrimp. For someone that doesn't get seafood often because of my DH's allergy, I was in absolute heaven having dinner here! They also had a yummy salmon the night we were there. I know my DH would have enjoyed that. I never did get to try the ribs or chicken, but my brother said they were good, so I'll take his word for it. ::MinnieMo

My whole family are seafood lovers - even the kids clam - and there's nothing better than bringing home your catch and cooking it up on the grill. Usually we have to divi up the clams and we're all salivating for more, but at Cape May Cafe, we can eat as many clams (steamers) as we please!
It's not your typical Disney meal - and our favorite whenever we visit...
Enjoy!

My wife and I just ate there for dinner and it was awful. I am a huge seafood fan, but this was just awful. I realize that you arent going to get the highest quality seafood at an all you can eat buffet, but this was very dissappointing.

The ribs were also tough and not very good. The salad/fruit portion of the bar just looked bad and we didnt try any of that. The desert bar was the worst we had seen all week.

I've heard nothing but good things about the breakfast, which is what we will be trying our next visit!!

If we stay at CSR, our moderate choice, we will do the breakfast after an early entry into EPCOT, maybe a 10:30 AM ADR, if they serve that late.

Don't let the time of park openings limit your ADR times at the resorts. If you are staying on property ask at your front desk about transportation to BCR. When we stayed at BCR we had the earliest ADR, in fact, we were the first in line prior to opening, at CM and the bus picked us up at BCR and gave us door service at CR. I know that part may have been easy due to access via MK.
