Hi. Can anone tell me what they think of CapN Jacks and also how are the crab cakes there? Any other meal suggestions? Thank you for your help.

My opinion? They should shut it down and start over. The last two times I went, there wasn't a single palatable thing served to us. Fool me twice and I'm done.

I agree with the PP except we only went there once. I don't even remember what we ordered or what was so bad about it anymore but it's a place we never considered going back.

Oh my goodness. Thank you for the honest reviews. DH really wants to go here. Me not so much but I made ADR's for this for him. Now I am almost thinking I should just change it and tell him we could not get in. Any other place that has really good crab cakes that I may be able to switch it to with only 17 days to go? :rotfl: Yeah right.

Captain's Grille, Flying Fish... or my favorite crab cake in the world: Shula's!

Shouldn't have a problem getting in any of them, but maybe Flying Fish.

Haven't been there in at least 12 years but from what I understand the best thing they serve is margaritas. Cap'n Jacks experienced a surge of popularity from 2005 to 2008 when they had lobster tails for one dining credit, but the lobster is long gone now.

Meh. DH and I ate there back in 2008 (or was it 2006?) when we were on the dining plan. We found the food to be mediocre and quite heavy. We have no desire to return. I'm sure we had the crab cakes (because I will always order crab cakes when they are on the menu and this was back when apps. were included in the dining plan) but I don't remember them. This leads me to believe they were not very good. I remember being very excited about ordering the lobster as my entree and having DH add a lobster tail to his entree but being told by the waiter we couldn't do this. :guilty: Just as well, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to eat that much.

We went during free dining and even then we thought it was over priced. ;) Have not been back since. It's the only restaurant on our never ever go to again list.

Are you going specifically for the crab cakes? WHat type of food are you looking for?

I agree with all of the other PPs and have no desire to return here. The food was nothing to write home about and the service was the same....it took forever for our server to acknowledge that we were even there. There are only a few places that we will not return to and Capt N Jacks is definitely one of them. I agree with the suggestion of Captain's Grille, much better food and a really great atmosphere plus the service is 100 times better.

We went last fall. I was in a scooter, plus DD and her BF. When it was our turn to be seated, I heard the server complaining to another that she didn't want to wait on another wheelchair table! Great. To her, someone on wheels was a problem? What a hurtful thing to say. DD and BF are young and don't make much money so I was the one who paid for everyone's meal and I paid the tip. I guess CapNJacks has invisible rules on who's welcome there and who's not. I won't return for more mistreatment. :sad2:

Disney's neglect of Capt Jack's is a shame. Thanks to the lakeside view in the seventies and eighties it was the cool place in the old Village Marketplace to get cocktails.
