Can't use the last 4 months of uy?

Does anyone know why it says you cannot use your DVC the last four months of your uy? A friend of mine is looking into DVC and she mentioned this. I don't recall that when I started 7 years ago. Can anyone help?

It is only if you try and book and travel outside of DVC in the last 4 months of your UY.
You can reserve and take DVC trips within the last 4 months of your UY without problems.

DVC Rule Of Four

You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection (excluding Disneyland® Resort Hotels in California and Tokyo Disney Resort®), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year.

Ah. Thanks. So if they wanted to stay in the campgrounds at the end of their use year they need to book it before the last 4 months of their uy?

That is correct. But also be aware that if they purchase resale (prices are way lower in resale than purchasing direct from DVD) they will not be able to use points for certain Disney collections such as non-DVC hotels at WDW like Fort Wilderness.
