I've spent the last few days trying to book a reservation on the Disney website with a room for seven nights, a one day basic ticket, and the dining plan so I can use tickets left over from many previous trips. The Disney website returns the following error:

Sorry, but we weren't able to update your offer at this time. You might want to try updating your preferences in the "What you've told us" section and Re-Submit.

I was hoping to use this reservation instead of the one I already have with a 7 day ticket. When I called the Walt Disney Travel company, they could not change the existing reservation to a one-day basic ticket although they could create a new reservation with a one day ticket...so we did that (saved $860 to use tickets I already have).

Further, I have two reservations for a 2 night trip in September that I wanted to do the same thing...It saves $600 on each reservation to go from 3-day park hoppers to 1-day basic ticket. When I called WD Travel, they had to put me on hold for 10 minutes on each reservation while they called Guest Services to make the switch.

Do you think they are going to prevent us from creating reservations like this or they are just having system troubles? I decided to make these changes after having each of our old tickets read by Guest Services at DTD and determined I have almost 30 park days remaining on 12 or so tickets and about that many plus days. I figured I better use them while my kids are young (11 and 8) and still want to go to Disney.

Thanks for listening. Sorry about the run-on sentences.

With the one day ticket you can only book it over the phone. A friend of mine came across this when booking hers and had to do it over the phone

Per a CRO member, you can do a one day park ticket plus dining for the entire stay, but not online.

Ex. 5 nights room, 1 day ticket, MUST do 5 day dining.

I was able to get a quote for a package with dining with only a 1 day base ticket. Make sure that you click update. I had to do it several times, but it definitely gave me a quote. It is a computer glitch. Try it now. I just got my quote a few minutes ago.

I go to www.disneyworld.com
Enter my dates (12/23-30).
Enter my family (2A/2C).
Go to the next page.
Select Coronado Springs.
Go to the next page.
Pick one day ticket with no hopping/no plusses.
Go to the next page.
Pick dining plan and use Update button.
That is when I get the message I showed in first post.
I can go through the exact same steps with a 7 day ticket and it works fine.
Oh well, I took care of everything over the phone.
It is just weird.
Maybe I'll follow up with an email to Disney.

Or can you just get (1) one day ticket? I don't know that it would be worth it to buy a ticket for everyone, since we are planning on APs.

Yes. in order to get the dining plan you must book a package that includes a stay at a Disney hotel, a ticket for each person in your party, and each person gets the dining plan (1 counter service meal, 1 table service meal, and 1 snack) for each night of their stay. Since I will be able to use the 1-day ticket which never expires, it works out for my family. If I had DVC or an AP it wouldn't. I think getting the DDE card works out better for people with APs.
