Tried to book Chef Mickey's in October with SIL's family who have never been. It was already booked. Nephews are 9 and 6. I thought it would be the best place for the first night dinner.
Now I'm puzzled as to where to go? Any suggestions - we will be a party of 9 (5 adults and 4 kids)
Does Chef Mickey's ever open up? Should I keep calling for cancellations?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

If you are looking for a character meal...you could try 1900 park fare or liberty tree tavern for dinner...

Thanks for the reply.....however I just found out that MNSSHP is that night. We won't be going to the HP, so LTT and CP are out. Also, unfortunately I know the boys won't like Cindy and friends (we were there in May with DS and DD)
We are staying at OKW - and perfer a character meal, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! :D

1900 park fare has characters...mary poppins, mad hatter, alice, pooh, and friends...
Is there a character meal at your resort?

We eat at Chef Mickey's pretty often but have had terrible luck with advance PS and NO problems with walk ups. I would not hesitate to try and walk up either at first seating or after the party has started at MK.

Hope this helps!

You could also try the Garden Grille at Epcot. That's a fun character dinner with Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. The food is served family style and it was quite tasty. Check out www.wdwig.com for a menu.

If it has to be a character meal how about the Garden Grill Restaurant at Epcot. When we are there last summer characters in attendance were Mickey, Pluto and Chip 'n' Dale. Food is served family style and was wonderful. Another added bonus is that the restaurant rotates whilst you are eating.

I'm with RobinMarie - we never do a PS for most of the buffets and walk up. You would have less of a wait time if you arrive a few minutes before it opens.

We were just at DW last week and the first night I did have PS for Chef Mickeys at 8:00. When we got there we still had to wait about 20 minutes but the place was deserted compared to our other visits. Then we checked with them the last night for a PS and they said they were booked. Walked up about 6:30 and again they did not look busy, and they said about a half hour wait. My suggestion would be there about 30 minutes before they open and get your name on the list. This is not the first time I have read on the boards that they could not get a PS for Chief Mickey's, it leaves me wondering if the are taking less PS and more walk ins.

Like you, I tried to get a PS at Chef Mickey's. I had no luck until about a week prior to our trip. Book something else as a back-up if you like, but try Chef Mickey's a week before your trip and maybe you'll get what you need like we did.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone!
I would have never tried a walkup when it is booked so far out - thanks for the advise. We will definately go early and get on the list for when they open. The boys will love it at Chef's I'm sure - especially since it is their first time, and first night!
:D

I have never had a problem with just walking up either. But I am sure it is a lot easier to find a table for 2-4 than a table for 6+.

I want to do CM breakfast this trip so on the day MK has EE we will go have breakfast then take off to Epcot.
