Can't get a preferred room at POR because I have a pin.

We have a ressie at POR for 10/30 to 11/7 and I got 2 pins and one of my pins covered these dates (35% off). Anyway, I called and try to get a preferred room and they said none are available. I checked every week in October as well and they said no preferred rooms are available with the pin we have. When I go online the preferred room is available but not with the pin. I really love POR but don't want to be a 20 minute walk to the food court and pool. Anyone get a preferred room with a pin? Wondering if they are even available. Thanks, Linda

Because preferred rooms book more easily, they probably made few or none available for the PIN. I guess it all depends on what that is worth to you - enough to miss out on using your discount? I think I'd take the discount and do a little more walking.

We were in bldg 16 last year and it was a great location but is not considered "preferred" maybe try requesting that.

We also had a non preffered room and got our building request (AB 15) it wasn't that far from the food court/main building. I wouldn't give up a 35% discount for a closer room.

And yes preffered rooms have been avialable with PIN's in the past. One of the reasons they send out pin codes is too book up rooms and resorts that are not full, sounds like they are looking to book standard rooms in this case with a discount and hoping preffered go at rack rate.

They just started the "preferred" rooms at POR the beginning of this month, you have been there since then and got a room in AB 15 and did not request a preferred room?

This. We were in BLDG 15 which is now considered preferred, but BLDG 16 was right there. 16 is slightly further away from the parking lot/bus stop but closer to one of the smaller pools. The walk to the food court may have been a few STEPS more than BLDG 15, but nothing I would pay 35% more for!

Agreed if you can get 16. Remember that it's a request, not a guarantee. The question is, is it worth 35% more if you find yourself in the furthest AB building, which you might. Is it worth 35% more for the guarantee? Only the OP can answer that.

We stayed in bldg 16 and it was great. Not a preferred room, but close enough for us.

I would request bldg 16 and stick with the pin. When you get there you can see what's available.

OP here. We will definetely keep the discount and walk to everything if we have to. We love the resort but it would be inconvenient to be really far away from everything. We got a pin for the first week of November, and I know there arent that many pins for that time of the year around, so I shouldnt complain. Linda

This is funny to me because we wanted a standard room at POR but with our pin could only get a preferred. A standard room was only available if we booked without the pin

I was just going to say try again everyday with your pincode. When I got my pin a few weeks ago, there were no preferred rooms for POR to book. I just tried today and I could choose from preferred, waterview or standard. So keep trying.


I'm not going I just like to price out the pincodes I get

I can guarantee that when I am actually planning another trip I won't get any pincodes
