we have a very generous friend who is giving us tickets for 2 days to US. We plan to do a day at each park. I can't figure out what the EP pricing is for our dates (2/15 and2/16) bc I think the website is including the park admission in the price. Can someone help a newby out?

Express passes are date specific. From what I see from universal site:

Feb 15th:
Unlimited express pass:$109.99(2 park)
1 time per ride express pass:$89.99(2 park)
Just US unlimited:$99.99
Just IOA unlimited:89.99
Just US 1 ride per:$84.99
Just IOA 1 ride per:$64.99

Feb 16th:
Unlimited:$99.99(2 park)
1 time per ride express pass: $84.99(2 park)
Just US unlimited:$89.99
Just IOA unlimited:$79.99
Just US 1 ride per:$69.99
Just IOA 1 ride per:$59.99

Don't purchase the express pass until you get into the park and see if you actually need it.

The prices listed about are correct.

2 day park to park - $210 unlimited Express, $175 regular Express

I of A - 2/15 - $90 unlimited / $65 regular
2/16 - $80 unlimited / $60 regular

Universal - 2/15 - $100 unlimited / $85 regular
2/16 - $90 unlimted / $70 regular

Those are prices per pass, so multiply by number in your group.

You will see why many recommend getting one night on site to get 2 days of unlimited express. Even at a sticker shock price of $350 - $450 for a one night stay on 2/15, it is cheaper and more convenient than buying two days passes at the above rates.

so that's on top of the admission ticket price? Yowza

yes. which is why i would NEVER opt for it.
if you go when the prices are at their lowest its not worth getting because the crowds are also at their lowest.
when the prices are higher its not worth it because its just so expensive.

It's at this point, when you want the EP for two days, that you start looking at the costs of a one night onsite deluxe stay.

For instance, Feb 15th is 414 (plus tax) at HRH as far as the quick check I did shows me.

If it's just two of you and you will be getting the one park unlimited EP each day, you can see where it starts making some sense.

If it's more than two of you, it really starts making sense.

If the tickets are already park to park tickets and you think "hey, that would be fun to visit both parks each day, and I might as well get the EP", then it seriously starts making sense.

I've never bought the EP when staying offsite or at Cabana Bay. I haven't even been tempted while in the park (you can pay for it when you decide you need it, if necessary).
