Tried to book room yesterday at contemporary. There are rooms available for room only reservations but when I try to add on tickets and deluxe dining, there are no rooms available for packages. Why is this? I can't imagine Disney not wanting to take more of my money! Tix and dining adds on about 1,500 extra, but Disney won't let me buy it and still get the room. Anyone else have any experience with this? Is there a chance of them opening the rooms up to be able to book a package? I have a 40% off code that has to be used by today!!! :scared1:

The 40% off code can only be used on the room, so go ahead and book it before the code expires. We have booked three Disney trips this year (2 with a code), and was always able to book the package. I have learned that sometimes you speak with a CM that has incorrect information. Definitely call back; you'll probably find that you'll be able to book the package. As a matter of fact, I believe you can add the DDP and tickets at a later date. For one of our trips, we were undecided and our TA said we could always call back and add the DDP. I hope this helps!:)

I would've thought the CM was incorrect, but it's also that way when I look at what's available online. I would just book them the room and change it later, but they would have to pay a much higher deposit and I don't think they can afford it this month. Also, if I book room only and change to package later, wouldn't I lose the 40% discount?

In the past, there have been discount codes that were good only on room only reservations, and codes that were good on both room only and packages. Maybe your code isn't valid on packages? So if they try to put in the code and then turn it into a package, it's coming up as a no availability. :confused3

I have had a ton of problems booking online, and that is why we ending up using a TA. I experienced numerous glitches on the site and our TA was able to "find" things that I couldn't get online.

I took a minute and looked through all the DDP information I have, and there is no mention of a limited number of packages. It is simply offered to anyone staying at a Disney property that purchases at least one day of theme park tickets.

No, you won't lose your 40% off if you add the DDP at a later date. The code only applies to the room. I believe, you would have to pay one nights stay (within 10 days, I think) if you book the room only vs. $200 if you book the package.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

Is it though. I booked our room about a month and a half ago with a package. My parents decided to come with us and now their is a room avail, but it's not avail with a package. Makes no sense to me!

Yes. Some times the codes are very specific, can only be used XXX dates at XXX resorts with no package. So that could be part of the problem you are experiencing. I would book the room, especially since a 40% code on a deluxe room is a huge savings. It actually turned out cheaper for us because we then brought our tickets on line through a broker that saved us even more money. We don't do the dining package so thats not an issue for us.

When I booked with our 40% off code last week the CM told me that only X number of rooms can be used with the code, the rest I guess are saved for regular paying customers. He tried to upgrade me from a garden view to a lagoon view at the Poly but said there weren't any lagoon view rooms available with the code. Maybe it is something like that, your code is only good for the room and not the pkg. :confused3 I'd call back and see if you get another CM, they may have a different answer.

We had the same problem last trip. Poly with AAA code room only was available, Poly with no code and full package was available, Poly with no code room only was available BUT AAA code package was sold out.
We changed our dates and we got the package.

When we asked they said they only allow so many rooms per code and the code for a AAA package is different than the room only rate for AAA...just one letter different, but the computer says that code is sold out.

Try another hotel (not the best choice if you had your heart set on one place) but it is better than not being able to use the code.

Another choice is to take the room only and pay for meals..again, not a pperfect choice but better than not going.

I'm sorry I can't help, but I wanted you to know you are not nuts.

It has nothing to do with our code. I already booked one room with a package. Now I need to add another for my parents.

Thanks! I was beginning to feel like I was losing it! The thing is, I already booked our room with the 40% discount for those dates. We got a package. Now my parents want to go with us, and even online, where they don't know about my code, there are only room onlys available, not any packages. Which makes no sense to me. They would rather sell a room to someone who just wants the room instead of me, who wants to also add a package (deluxe dining!)? It just makes no sense. I haven't even checked with my code, so maybe if I call back with my code, there will be some rooms set aside just for the code........

Had this same problem last april. They told me they basically alot some rooms for packages for discounts and some room only, they aren't all grouped together. Package ones were gone for my stay. There's no way around it really, you have to drop the discount to get dining (getting tickets is easy, do it separately), or change hotels and find a place where there are package rooms available.

On another note, I had the best cm yesterday point out the obvious which I never though of. With an entire wing gone at CR, and they were already full often, they are full almost all the time now, even at slow times of the year. Hopefully you find something you like.

Remember with the ddp if you don't eat the full amount usually that they offer on it, its not really saving money, if you do, then it is obviously. For example, 1 ts a day, desert and the snack.
