I'm going to cancel 2 AKV concierge studios reservations for Nov 30-Dec 6th tomorrow. Long story short we decided to move to SSR with family. There is always next time for us not for my In Laws. (Moving because rest of family couldn't get 2 bedroom at AKV). More important for all of us to be at same resort.

Now to try and get AKV concierge next July. Hope we make someone's day!!!

I think I would wait to see if an AKV waitlist comes through. I would give a wait list a little more time.

I agree. I would wait to see if the waitlist comes through also before you switch.

Problem is we are out of points. They are not DVC and only had pts for 1bedroom. They have elected to go with room only rate at 30 percent off for 2 bedroom. We can get a 2 bedroom with our points. They REALLY want a 2 bedroom vs 2 rooms. It's really ok. I'm not that upset. I just can't believe I'm canceling it. Only you all know how hard it is to get. We didn't plan on taking advantage of morning safari etc because family with us. I think it's a reservation we should have when we are traveling alone.

Sometimes traveling with family has its inconveniences and this is one of those times. Sorry you have to give up your club level studios, but if you got them once you will get them again. I guess the silver lining is you get to plan another trip.

Enjoy your time with family. SSR is one of my home resorts and I really like it there. It's very pretty and the grounds are so scenic. Enjoy!

And I hear ya on being out of points - seems like I am always out of points.

The views at AKV-CL are not very good, so if you are not doing the safari, then you are not missing out on much. The food/beverage service is nice, but not worth missing out on time with family. You will enjoy it much more when you on your own, and you MUST do the sunrise safari -- best tour we have done yet at WDW.

Enjoy the holidays at WDW . . . we wish we could be there this year at any DVC resort!

I have booked CL 4 times and only stayed there twice. The regret of the cancellation shall linger for awhile but will go away. (I imagine! :rotfl2:)

Actually we've done it too to be in the same hotel as family. The first time we stayed concierge we did not and they were at SSR. It made for a more difficult trip that we did not see them as much as we would have liked. After that we decided not to do separate resorts if at all possible. And I'd prefer a 2BR over 2 studios also.

You are going to have a wonderful time with your family! Enjoy planning the "concierge trip" in the future!

Thanks for all the positive responses. I know it's for the best and I have stayed at SSR many times and I enjoy that resort. I'm looking forward to staying 2 bedroom again. It's been a couple years. My In Laws know what we are giving up and promises to buy us a case of beer, cookies and some bagels to make up the difference LOL.. :rotfl: 1/2 kidding of course.

I agree. Spend the time with family this trip and do the club level when you CAN do the safari.

It's difficult to cancel those hard to get reservations. I had a really hard time pulling the plug on our OKW GV for Xmas time which I made 11 months to the day. I knew we had to cancel the trip, but I waited a couple of weeks before I could get myself to do it.

Yeah I can't believe you're doing that either. We had an experience with like that last year, at Kidani no less. I wound up renting points from David's for a studio, worked out great
