Anyone have this camera? I just got it from Costco (90 days to return for any reason) and it seems good so far, but I am concerned about the shutter speed. I am upgrading from the Canon SD550 (7.1mp) to this SD950is (12mp) mainly for the image stabilization feature. My SD550 seems to take 2 seconds to take the photo (from the time I press the button) and the new one seems to take 3 seconds. I notice the difference but I wonder if it is going to make a big deal in capturing the pictures?

Can anyone recommend a better compact digital (point and shoot)? I am not ready to make an SLR plunge yet (although I am intrigued).

Thanks for the help!

Hmmm, it seems really strange that the SD950 would be so slow. Or, for that matter, that your older SD550 is so slow.

According to the testing at Imaging Resource, shutter response of the SD550 should be less than 1/2 a second and only 0.07 sec. when prefocused (half-pressing the shutter button). I doubt the newer version would be that much slower than that....

Do you have the LCD review feature set? Sometimes these cameras won't take the next picture because they're busy displaying the image on the LCD. I've turned that feature off on my S3 and it definitely improved shot-to-shot times.

Thank you for replying! I never really took the time to learn the camera so I must be doing something wrong. I always used it on auto mode, with flash and yes, the LCD review.

I did as you suggested, I tried it with the flash off and the LCD review off and it took it pretty quickly! Oy, I feel so silly!

I finally learned last night what exactly ISO is. I am excited to finally try to get a decent shot of the fireworks in 2 weeks!

Thank you for your help.
