Hey Guys,

I've been considering and researching buying a point and shoot camera for awhile now, and I'm pretty sure I've limited my options down to two. The PowerShot SD780IS and the PowerShot SD990IS. I'm leaning toward the latter, but I'm not entirely sure.

So, does anyone have any familiarity with either of these cameras? Or any advice as to which is better for general shooting?

Thank You!

I have the equivalent of the SD990IS in an older version and love it. It's the second I've owned (the first was stolen) and I can't say much bad about it.

Specifically, from looking at the specs, the SD780 has HD video and costs slightly less, while the 990 does not have HD video. The 990IS will be a better choice for shooting and I think you'll get better quality pictures. The money is spent on the camera's picture-taking capabilities and not the HD video capabilities.

Either one should be a great camera, but I'd pick the SD990. Looks like it's built a little stronger too.
