Canon PhotoStitch and Canon Photo Record info from Canon Canada

Just FYI,

according to my friend, the Canon dealer, Canon will no longer give out (or even sell) replacement disc that includes Canon Photo Stitch and/or Canon Photo Record. They actually told her that due to the programs beeing Freewares, anybody can just copy and redistribute the programs (but not copying the entire Canon Solutions CD).

This will pose a problem to some because the programs are buried inside Canon Solutions CD. Another caveat, Canon does not provide downloads for these programs.

If anybody needs help in backing up their Canon Solutions CD legally (so only backing up the Photo Stitch and Photo Record parts), let me know. To me, at least, these programs have proven to be invaluable.

Photo Stitch can stitch any pictures taken by any camera (doesn't have to be Canon).

Photo Record is a charming scrapbooking program which also can do scrapbooking any pictures taken by any camera.

I haven't even bothered to load them, I just use Photoshop Elements. Am I missing out on something? Elements has a decent photo knit feature. Does Canon offer anything better.

To me, they are as easy to use as 1-2-3, the Photoshop version is a lot more cumbersome (don't know about the Photoshop Elements version).

Open up the photos in question.

Automate/photomerge/Point to IMAGES(files already selected if you they are open in photoshop)/click ok.

If you took good overlapping pictures they should all be arranged, if not you can drag and drop the ones that were not arranged for you.
Click ok again and you are done.

I use it for double exposure type stuff, just check the leave as layers box.

with Photo Stitch all you need to do are as follows:

1. open Photo Stitch
2. open photo files you want to merge
3. click OK
