I have an Canon XT and want to take it to disneyworld. Is their any rides I should not take it on? I plan to get a waterproof bag for any water rides.

I have no specific advice but I'll tell you this: I have the same camera and I'm taking it to the park after the 1st day when we've rode all the rides. That way, I can take pics of the monkeys and not have to worry about taking the camera on rides. I personally would not take it on any ride that could possible damage it. I couldn't afford to replace it! I'd NEVER take it on a water ride with a water proof bag or not. The camera is bulky as is my case and I just don't think mine would be safe or secure on a ride other than IASM or POTC LOL.
Just my opinion and I hope you have a great time!

Ive taken my XT on EVERY ride at Disney (Inc RNRC, Everest etc). My advice though is ensure you have a decent camera bag (e.g. a Lowepro Minitrekker 100 etc) as it will protect the camera and give you something to hold onto on the rides.

Im off the WDW in about 9 hours with my new Canon 40D and plan on it being with me for everything.

Cheers

You should not have a problem taking it on the rides. As stated, make sure you have a good camera bag. A lot of the rides have nets on the back of the seats in front of you that you can put the camera in. I take my HD video camera the rides and have no trouble.

I don't do the thrill rides any longer (bad back) so I get the Camera Case and DH gets to ride. :lmao: He also just got his 40D and can't wait to go to Disney in Feb to try it out. :hippie:

When I rode the rides I would take my point and shoot with me and keep it in a case and in my bag. However, I am pretty klutzy so I would probably not take an expensive camera on a ride with me. With my luck I would drop it from the top of the ride. :thumbsup2
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I am leaving in 2 days and I just have my regular camera bag. I have three lenses as well and my flash. I think if it is a decent camera bag you should be fine. But I wouldn't risk ever taking one on a water ride. (I have the XTi but three more expensive lenses) Have fun and take good pics!! :)
