( after the mark 111 stuff)can't seem to find any reviews on this and canon site doesn't say but wondering if would now have modeling and flash exposure compensation(? or which ever other feature wouldn't work on the 580 ex/ rebelxt combo.)

From the canon website it sounds like the improvements are 20% faster recharge time, weather resistant, and you can control the flash settings through the MarkIII camera menu (instead of the flash menu).

All speedlite flashes have FEC (even the on-board flash does) but I don't think Speedlite thinks that a modeling light is all that important. It's just as easy to take a test shot and check for shadows then to waste your flash battery to shine a constant light on your subject to preview where the shadows are going to be.

they have had modeling flash and the other feature i can't remember, if isn't flash compensation is it flash bracketing, but they wouldn't work with the rebel xt. which is why i wondered if the new 580 ex 11 does since the lit. says it works with all eos models now
