We have a Sept. use year, and as I understand the restrictions, I can never use my points for the Alaska Disney Cruise. It sails within the last 4 four months period where I am blocked from booking or sailing using points.
Does anyone else have a use year/ sailing/ booking problem?
While I certainly could never book a cruise on points, as we don't own enough points for even one of us to cruise. We do have enough points to vacation twice a year at WDW, or split stays at WDW, and DLR, which has been the norm since VGC opened, as we are CA residents.
We've never considered using points to cruise, and always planned on paying cash for any Disney Cruise. Now that Disney cruises out of the west coast, we are more likely to take a Disney cruise. But back to the restrictions, is anyone else blocked from using points because of the use year?

The rule of 4 is that you cannot book AND travel in the last four month of your useyear outside of DVC resorts.

As long as you book more than 4 months before the end of your UY, there is no problem for the trip to be within the last 4 months.

As said, you are blocked from booking and using within the last four months. But if you book ahead (and with a DCL, you can book 2 years out, I think) you'll be fine. They're just trying to avoid people rushing to use up points at the end of UY's. Plan at least 4 months out and you'll always be golden with DVC.
