I have a 1BR suite booked at both currently... this will be our first time at either resort, traveling for a week with my spouse and 7/9 yo's.
I am quite familiar with both 'on paper' but just cannot decide and would appreciate opinions.
I don't care about the proximity to parks FYI, we will be using Uber as needed to avoid long waits.
BRV Pros (all IMO of course):
- Just renovated & looks well done, same layout as BWV which we've stayed in before
- new Murphy bed just has to be better than a years old sleeper sofa
- WL is (arguably) the quintessential WDW Xmas resort
- Small-ish resort so little walking required
- On site dining looks above average/easy options for kids, though not necessarily top tier
- Boat to MK
- Cheaper per night than AKL, adds up for a week
BRV Cons:
- NO MORE BOAT TO CONTEMPORARY. I find this maddening, and another in the infinitely long list of Disney could do's but drags their feet/makes excuses why they won't. The idea of access to Contemporary for not only additional (pretty) easy dining but monorail/Poly & GF dining options is terrific... but no, allegedly b/c a hotel manager doesn't want to
- Cool for younger kids, I'm sure, but for most not to the level of AKL... so this would be the 'adult choice'
- Doesn't seem to have a lot of on-site activities that are focused on young kids
AKL Jambo Pros:
- Savanna view room... I'm well aware this could me amazing, could be meh depending on factors beyond our control... but the simple fact my kids would see animals from the balcony on occasion is pretty unique. The tough part here is we are big AK folks, will absolutely be devoting a full day, more likely 1.5 days, to AK itself, so it makes the view from the room feel less 'necessary'?
- Looks just as amazing for Xmas, if not more so, than WL
- Arguably the best resort dining, IMO it's AKL and GF neck and neck
- Good on-site kid activities
- staying at Jambo means small-ish footprint so for resort related things, short walks. I realize that changes for buses, Kidani/Sanaa visit, etc.
AKL Jambo Cons:
- more expensive than BRV
- Rooms seem ok... I think they were renovated a few years ago... seem a little dark and drab in YouTube videos. BRV definitely wins here
- no choice but to be on high floor in Jambo... maybe ok in the end
Thanks in advance
