Cannon guns on ise of the Resistance?

I wouldn’t hold my breath.

This seems to be the new normal at Disney.

It would cost money to fix them. The ride is still popular without them. So we won’t bother to fix them.

Just like the hologram on Pirates. Or the water pulley system on Swiss Family Treehouse. Et cetera.

Sad.
Holy cow I've thought about every single one of these in the past few months. I thought I had imagined the smoke projection on pirates, it's been so long! And the wife and I went up the treehouse a few months ago and thought that pulley system used to move!

And yeah, I knew those cannons moved long ago, but every time I've been on Rise over the past few years, they have not. :(

Thanks for the validation! It's frustrating, but cathartic to complain about it and be validated by strangers! ;)

Went on it twice this past week, cannon guns were fully operational. We got the Kylo ship one ride and the animatronic another. The second ride Kylo/Hux were t moving on the bridge it was just talking.

We did an After Hours earlier this year, and the cannons were working everytime we went through.
That was our first time, have an incredible ride!
When y’all say they were working, you mean they were firing in sequence with the vehicles? Or that they were moving back and forth in front of the vehicles, blocking the vehicles path, and firing in sequence with the vehicles?

Well sourced people on another message board have indicated that the cannons will need a full scale refurbishment to fix and won’t be coming back any time soon, which is why I ask.

Exactly. The cannons still fire, but they don't move the way they originally did. A lot of people see the cannons firing and interpret that as them "working" even though they might not be 100% working as originally intended.

Was just at DL so got to see how Rise is doing over there:

- Kylo: working!
- Cannons: not.

Seems crazy but it’ll be five years since opening next year, wonder if they start to think about a refurb soon so they can get these issues sorted out.

I wonder if the people writing that the cannons were “working” know what the working cannons actually do? Disney insiders on another forum had been posting that these were likely permanently done, like the yeti in EE.
I always think that - I want to ask, but I don’t want to come off as condescending or rude. Just because you hear the cannons making the noise does not mean they are working.

Yeah for people who have never known them to move back-and-forth in front of your ride vehicle as they initially did, "working" almost definitely means they are just "firing" by lighting up and making a sound, and in that sense, they are, so yeah we should be clear, and be nice lol.

This reminds me of how many things on Splash Mountain were broken, especially at the end. Seems crazy that they have so many attractions they prefer to not repair to their original functionality.
I was glad I got one last ride on Splash the week it closed but it was like riding through a splash mountain exhibit in a museum. Nothing was moving.

Fired moved…we waited…cannon moved back…we advanced etc. Been on ROTR over 20 times…had the just firing version and the cannons moving…this past trip cannons were moving

the smoke projection effect was removed from Pirates on both coasts, so it won't be coming back, same with the mermaid stuff
