Candy Cane Inn or HOJO??

I can't decide, please help!! I have reservations for HOJO and Candy Cane INN, which would you choose? Tripadvisor lists Candy Cane as #1 and the websights and pictures are great. I know the HOJO is a diser fav; however, I was unable to get the $59 per night rate, but did get the mousesavers. Any feedback......

Folks on this board will rave about HoJo. To me, it's a decent place to stay, but not my favorite. I haven't tried CCI yet. Each time I've wanted to they've been sold out. The plusses that CCI has going are a continental breakfast and their own shuttle. HoJo is more walkable than CCI.

You can't go wrong with the CCI. The rooms are decent sized and clean. The breakfast in the morning is very nice and the exclusive shuttle is very nice after a long day of walking in the parks. We love it there.

It really depends on your circumstances....

As a rule if breakfast, shuttle and nice grounds is your thing then stay at CCI, if being a little closer, bigger rooms, nicer pool complex is your thing then stay at HoJos. I would not stay at CCI if you are having more than 3 people in your room, even the deluxe rooms are very small.

Also, how many people are going? The CCI rooms are smaller, or so I have read.

When are you going? The HoJo will be rennovating their pool areas between now and end of June, so that could play a large factor as well. Once the pools are done if you have young ones, you will NOT want to miss the new Castaway pirate themed pool area. It will be the only off-site hotel within walking distance to have a themed pool with slide.

We really enjoyed our stay at the CCI (we had a premium room) last May & would stay there again in a heartbeat but are booked at the HoJo for our trip this coming October. We decided to give the HoJo a go this year based on what I have read on this site. Plus I was able to get the Entertainment Book rate for our entire stay & Lorealle was wonderful answering all of my questions via email. I suppose that really didn't answer your question, did it? lol The other posts have alot of factors to consider when making your decision (rates, # of people, dates of stay, etc) but I did want to offer that our stay at the CCI was wonderful.

Another vote for CCI. There are 5 of us and we never have any problems in the "premium" rooms. We always add a rollaway and it fits perfectly between the first bed and the front window. The in-room breakfast is great!

HoJo and CCI are almost the same distance from the DL entrance.


According to the google satellite map:
Closest CCI Room: 0.526 mi
Closest HoJo Room: 0.418 mi (with shortcut)

Farthest CCI Room: 0.649 mi
Farthest Hojo Room: 0.482 mi (with shortcut)

As someone pointed out in another thread, there is a shortcut from HoJo to the DL entrance.

If you take the shortcut, then the farthest HoJo room is closer than the closest CCI room by about 100 yards.

I've updated my previous post with the shortcut distances. If you don't take the shortcut, then HoJo ends up pretty close to the same distance as CCI.

I just have to say I am somewhat of a hotel snob and CCI surprised me. I happened to get a AAA rate of $99 per night and we loved our stay there. There was something magical about eating breakfast at a table pool side and parking your car right in front of your room - for free. The rooms are very homey and comfortable. Fridge and coffee maker. And catching the free shuttle and chatting with the friendly driver. Going into the little store adjacent to the front desk and asking if they have the iced tea in the cooler in another flavor...and they immediately check for you. Being given the candy cane pens and candy. The beautiful landscaping. It is nice. Hojo's has its following, too, but I think you cannot go wrong with CCI.

PS I am staying at Hojo's for the first time in Sept with the Ent rate and may change my vote.

I have to agree. CCI staff could not do enough to help us. They really went overboard to be certain we were happy.

I have stayed at both many times. When we are on a limited budget we stay at HOJO when we have more funds we stay at CCI. My personal favorite is CCI, I think the beds are more comfortable and I love having the shuttle after a long day in the park. DH and I will probably hit next years Food and Wine weekends and I am going to start saving a little early so we can get CCI.
