How religious is the Candlelight Processional in Epcot, exactly? My mother insists that the whole family go, but none of us are religious except for her and my father. Will it be heavily religious and like a traditional Christmas church service, or is it more of a musical event?

The Candlelight Processional tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. There are lots of music in between short verses of the story. I wouldn't classify it as preaching or a church service. There are lots of YouTube videos that show the entire Candlelight Processional if you'd like to see what it is like exactly.

The narrator will read the account of Jesus' birth from the Bible and the music will be traditional, religious, Christmas carols (no Jingle Bells or anything like that here).

I too am not religious however this is one of my faves. The choir and orchestra are simply amazing.

I'm not very religious, but it is one of my absolute favorite things at Disney, and definitely my favorite Christmas tradition. It's a musical event and not a church service. They do tell the nativity story and it's basically straight from the bible, but a shortened version. It's very enjoyable, it's not like being forced to sit through a Catholic mass (which I can say because I was raised Catholic haha). The music is amazing and I usually listen to it on youtube all through the holidays! But it is religious in nature because it's the story of the birth of Christ, so if that's something that is really going to bother you then you might not like it. I think if you celebrate or enjoy Christmas at all you should go!

I am of a different religion and really enjoy it. We have been 4 times over the years each time with a different narrator and the dinner package for the 8:15 pm show so we get the full effect of the candles.

I'm not very religious either (other than my niece and nephew's First Communions, I couldn't tell you the last time I attended church), but I've always loved the religious Christmas carols, and I've seen the Candlelight Processional every time I've been to WDW in December.

I am not Christian but I love it!!! Its beautiful ( I love all Christmas movies and Christmas music though!!).
