DS will be almost 3 when we go to WDW for the holidays (he turns 3 in January). How do toddlers usually do at Candlelight Processional? My first instinct is not to take him, seems too solemn and quiet for a toddler, but I wanted to get tips from the experts!

Thanks!

and kids were 2, 5 & 7. I had worries about how theywould do so I decided against the dinner package. There was still so much open seating that we got to see part of it by just walking in after it had started. Glad we didn't pay money because boys started to get antsy after about a half an hour. I was glad we at least got in on part of it but took them out so that it didn't ruin it for others. I've heard others say their kids were great tho so just could be our kids that had a hard time with it.

Oh, we were there 11th - 17th so probably wouldn't be room to just walk in late closer to Christmas.

I don't think it will hold their interest for too long...heck, my 45 year old DH got antsy halfway through and we left!

We walked right in, also. This was the first week in December.

My DD was 2 1/2 when we took her to the Candlelight processioanal at Thanksgiving time. She was antsy, she was up out of her seat, she was bored. She kept wanting to stand on DH' lap then my lap, then DH's lap...

Would I do it again? NO.

I've taken our 2 DD when they were 2 and 5 and they did fine but my DDs are used to going to Church every Sunday and I think that helps a bit.

If your child can handle something that is probably boring to them (although my 5 year old liked it) and they have to be kind of quiet then go for it. Only you can decide if they can handle it.

Good luck!

I think it would compare to a specail church service or a concert. DS was older when we went but I can see him enjoying it as a toddler BUT that is just the kind of kid he is. It is quite pretty and the band is there to watch. It's also late in the day so that might be a factor. Would he be tired and drift off to sleep or tired and grumpy? I think it depends on the child. I would really only do the package if you want to eat in one of the resturants any way. That way if you have to leave it won't hurt so bad. WE were there early Dec. and everyone got in from both PS and standby and our PS line was just a long as the other though our seats were a bit closer.

It really does depend on the child and you know your child best.

We went with my brother's family which included my 16 month old godson. He was (and still is) a very active guy. I was shocked that he enjoyed the CP so much (and so were his parents. They couldn't believe it!). Anthony clapped in all the right places and sat quietly on his dad's lap with a smile on his face the entire time. We did eat before the show, which probably helped some.

Anyway, if you are worried about your little one, consider sitting at one of the tables outside of the Liberty Inn. (fast food place in American Pavillion). You won't be able to see much, but you will be able to hear quite well and if your toddler isn't up to sitting that long (about 45 minutes), you won't have to worry about disturbing others.

Best wishes -

My neice was 3 on her last trip (she's now 4) and she got very ansty and her mom said she won't take her again until she is a bit older.

Her sister who was 11 at the time however, loved it!

Thanks for all the replies. We will definitely not do a package, but maybe we'll stop by and listen from the back if we happen to be in the area.
