Cancelling AAA package and rebooking thru CRO?

When the 2009 AAA packages come out this summer, I plan on booking one through a AAA agent so I can get the DDP and have at least some type of quaranteed discount. But if a better deal comes out later, like Free Dining (we are planning for Sept. '09 at the Poly), I'll want to book a new package with the better discount and cancel the AAA one.

My question is will CRO let me book a new package before I cancel the one I already have with AAA travel? There would be two reservations in the system for a short time. Does this cause any problems? Any info would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know if I can just call any AAA agent in CA or do I need to go to a AAA travel office? If someone knows of a knowledgeable AAA agent in CA, I would really appreciate an email with the info.

Thanks, Missy

When the last round of AP rates came out I had a AAA package booked and paid for. I called CRO made me AP reservation and the next day canceled my AAA package. I don't think it would be a problem for a day or 2.

Good Luck on your booking!

Oh I also think it's possible to have AAA apply most general public codes to an AAA reservation. So its possible you wouldn't have to cancel and rebook.

We did the reverse this year - booked a package with CRO, then discovered we could save more and get more going through AAA - so we had 2 reservations for a couple days, then cancelled the original one with CRO. It was a problem for us, as we did everything approx. 6 months out for this April's trip.

Your AAA agent can "adjust" your ressie to the free dining. I had booked in Jan 2007 thru AAA and when the rumors of free dining came out I called her and she had heard the rumors too. The day the promotion came out she changed my ressie to free dining, no problems at all!

When I got my PIN code, I had my AAA agent change the reservation to use the PIN instead of the AAA discount.

So I got the (much) better price, but still have AAA behind me in the unlikely event that there are problems.
