Hi everyone! I have a reservation coming up at the end of October and just found out that I may be starting a new job mid-October so I don't know if I will be able to go on this trip anymore. I am fairly new to DVC so I want to make sure I understand my options. I know I could rent the points but I imagine I might have a hard time so last minute. I don't think I would be able to use those points if I cancelled within 30 days and they were in a holding account. I also have a December use year so if I cancelled more than 31 days in advance, I would still be beat there. But if I rescheduled for early 2023, could I use those points?

No. Those points are stuck in your 2021 UY which ends Nov 30, 2022. You are past your banking deadline for a December UY and and borrowed points cannot be returned to your 2022 UY.

Your best course of action is to NOT CANCEL the reservation and rent it out.

I agree..keep the trip and try to rent it out…since all those points expire end of November and as you say, the availability is slim.

Many brokers will allow you to list a confirmed reservation.

I would definitely try to rent the points. But I guess You could call MS and see if they’ll grant you an exception.

We were in the same boat with a reservation the third week in July that we wanted to cancel. We sent it to a rental company the first week of May and it was rented out within a couple of days.
Definitely try renting it!

Last minute is easier, actually. The FB groups are full of people requesting stuff.
