Cancelling 1 night, is there a fee?

So the room I want is available with my military discount for 4 nights but not for 3 nights. The CM said I can just book the 4 nights and call back and cancel the 1st night and there's no penalty, only if I were to cancel within 5 days. I could have sworn that I saw on here that there is a penalty to do this. Its a RO not a package.

As long as you cancel within 5 days of arrival, there is no penalty. This is because it is a room only reservation.

Okay, thanks but as above, will it reprice the remaining vacation? It was a lot more for the 3 nights, per night.

You should ask when you call to cancel just to be sure. Sometimes with the military discount there is a minimum stay requirement. Not sure how that might affect the pricing though.

Honestly, I wouldn't take the cast member you spoke with at their word. Over the years I've discovered not every cast member is as familiar with the military discount as they might be with regular rates. I know sometimes there are minimum stay requirements, discount only available if you book as a package etc. It's a weird. Over the years i've picked up on a lot, and even had to clarify things I was told by cast members I knew to be incorrect.

I'm playing this game right now for my upcoming may trip (booked with AP discount, *hoping* and checking for any military rate cancelations).

You are so right. A lot of the cast members are not up to speed with the discount. I'm finding it harder every year to find any availability with the discount. Hoping for cancellations for June!! Good luck to you and the OP.

As another poster stated, Disney no longer allows you to cancel one night. You have to cancel the whole thing and re-book, IF it is available.

Ok, I didn't think I was going crazy. I think he thought I was crazy because I asked him 3 times within 2 minutes. I have it on hold currently so when I call back, I'll have to see if they can possibly just do the 1 night. Maybe guest services can do something???

They are the only ones who can, but sometimes they do say no.

I think you meant 5 days prior to arrival. If you cancel within 5 days of check-in, it's a one night penalty

I'm confused. Check In and arrival are the same day.

5 days prior is a different period of time than cancelling within 5 days. Arrival or checkin doesn't matter what word. Withon 5 days is too late. Prior to 5 days is timely.

But Disney now reprices rates if the rate was available for 4 but not 3 and you drop a night off the 4 you booked.

Thanks. Not confused anymore. I need to work on my reading comprehension. Or slow down.
