A friend of mine called delta yesterday to confirm her flight Newark NJ to MCO on June 23rd and was informed that the flight had been cancelled. They never notified her and didn't even rebook her. She was finally able to get another flight for the same price (like pulling teeth) but now she has to fly from a different airport and the flight times really stink!! Does she have any recourse.? Should delta have done more for her? I think she got ripped off BIG time!

I think she should definitely call back and ask to speak to a manager; it also doesn't hurt to let them know that you may/may not, depending on their assistance, post their story on these types of forums for other delta customers to read (myself being one of them!). Let us know how she makes out!

Unfortunately, the onus is on the pax to keep tabs on the flights.
Not saying it is right or wrong, but, just the way it is with the major airlines these days. Delta is known for cancelling flights and switching times.

We have had Delta do this to us more than once on two separate trips to Hawaii. I thought that they do not notify us because we were using frequent flyer miles. I guess that is just how they operate. For us to get the seats to Hawaii both trips, my DH had to stay up until midnight five nights in a row until they released seats, this was almost a year in advance. It was a pain and then to have them cancel our flights and not notify us. After speaking to supervisors we were given other flights. You just have to keep checking on your own. I have to tell you we had a totally different experience with American. My DH called three months in advance and had no problem getting me a ticket to San Fran using our miles. They were a please to deal with.

My friend is not one to make waves. She won't make a fuss.

Glad I'm flying AA! I booked in January and check it every day. In 6 monthes my flight has only changed once by 15 minutes. Big Deal!

Can you say 7 more days???

Thank you for letting us know! I'm never on the transportation board, but just checked it for the first time today. I went on the Delta web site and found our flight numbers had changed (but at least the same times) but my brother in law's flight changed times for the trip home. If I hadn't read this board, we would have never known!

It's always good to check your flight ... atleast once a week.:D

Very true! My AA flight times have changed 4 times and the flight number has changed twice. The past week I have been checking it daily and think I'll go do it right now.

United is bad about changing flights too.

I booked tickets from Denver to MCO 5/29. Checked the schedule on 6/7 and return flight to Denver GONE. That flight left MCO at 11:45 am. They had stuck us on 8:30am flight out! Uck. Ticket agent changed us to a afternoon flight which is great. No notice at all even though I booked on line and they have my E mail.

But I would bet there will be at least 3 more schedule changes or cancellations in the next 5 months!

Like curly said, check once a week!

This happened to me a few years ago to with American Airlines. I had booked my tickets through Travelocity and neither American Airlines nor Travelocity contacted me about the cancelled flight (I found out from a coworker who happened to be booked on the same flight). When I contacted AA to rebook our flights, I was told there was a possibility that all our seats would not be located together as the flight they put us on was almost full...this was unacceptable to me as we were traveling w/our 2 children. She was sympathetic and suggested that I complain again when we checked in for our flight and ask that they accommodate our need to sit together. Well, they sure did...they moved us to First Class! What a way to start a trip!! So it sure can't hurt to speak up, you've got nothing to lose!

if I booked with a TA, how do I check to see if my flights have changed?
We bought two of our tickets with our VISA miles and then purchased 3 more for our children directly though USAir. I checked the childrens tickets online through the USAir web site, but have no way to check and make sure my DH and I have tickets. I do have the confirmation sheet from the TA. I would just feel better seeing our names on the screen.
