I have a little bit of a dilemna with my upcoming vacation. We have a room only booked for July 6-11 at POFQ. I was planning on adding dining and tickets a couple days before. I already have my dining ADR's and paid for the HDDR show. I have had a medical issue arise with my family and need to cut this to the wire with whether to cancel or not. Could some of you disers give me the last day I can 1. add the dining plan and 2. what is the last day I can cancel and get a full refund? Thanks for the help and advice!!!:confused3

I can answer one of your questions. You can add dining to make it a package within 72 hrs so they told me but I have a package.

I am not sure when you can add the dining plan but if you do you have to cancel prior to 45 days out to get a full refund. After that there will be a penelty for cancelation. I think it is $100 if you do it before 5 days out, and within the 5 days out it is $200.

As for room only, if you don't add dining, then you can cancel prior to 5 days before arrival and get your money back, within the 5 days you will lose a one night deposit.

HTH.

For a room only reservation you can cancel 5 days prior to arrive for a full refund. Yes you can add the dining plan up to 72hrs prior to arrival.

My understanding is that you can't add the dining plan to a room-only reservation. Don't you have to have park tickets that you purchased through Disney on your reservation as well?

Going from a room only to adding dining will turn your res into a WDTC package.
Most likely they will also need to cancel your room only res and rebook as a package.
You have three days prior to arrival. But I would not cut it too close. And you will need to pay in full when you book.

I wondered about that too. Can you add the dining plan without buying the tickets from Disney?

To not buy park tickets as part of a package you would need to book a WDTC package specfic for WDW AP-ers or be a DVC member staying on points.
Otherwise you will need to buy MYW passes that are a part of the package -- at least 1 day per person.

He plans on buying park tickets people. As soon as you get within 5 days you would lose the first nights deposit with the room only res. You can add tickets anytime but if you want the dine plan you have to do it outside of 72 hours along with the tickets. They would make you a new res that has to be payed in full and they would cancel and refund your room only res

yes I was wondering this same thing. If you want / need to defer paying your balance at the 45-day window, can you cancel your park tickets and dining from your package / converting it to a room-only reservation w/ a smaller one night deposit, and then like 5 days out - add the tickets and dining and pay the full balance at that date. A way to delay paying the full package balance. Or would they cancel your room-only ressi and you maybe would lose your room at that resort (like the family suite at ASMu which is no longer available for my dates). Maybe if I have to go through all these gyrations (sp), I should just cancel and go when I have more money available.

You will NOT lose your room. They rebook the package before they cancel the room only.
