Anyone know the cancellation policy for a Memories DFTW? I just got my contract for my VR at the Swan and am not too thrilled with the non refundable deposit clause. This may be standard; I'm not sure. I've called DFTW but won't hear back for 2-3 business days, which means next week at this point. Help!

According to passporters...

If you cancel more than 60 days from the event you forfeit your $500 deposit.

60-31 days before: you are charged 50%

30-0 days before: you pay 90% of the total charges

I think that a non-refundable deposit is pretty standard to be honest. Many vendors (eg photographers, officiants, cake makers etc) will have non-refundable deposits too.
I think the issue is that businesses have to hold that date for you, and if you cancel on them, they may have missed out on potential business from another client who could have taken your date and followed the whole contract through.

A non-refundable deposit is pretty standard for wedding vendors like above poster said -- they are holding that date for you, and a non-refundable deposit is like a 'good faith promise' to let them know you are serious... :thumbsup2
