Canceling a cash rack-rate reservation and immediately re-booking it via DVC Points?

We are thinking about purchasing our first DVC contract via resale. We currently have a 6-night cash rack-rate reservation for a 1BR villa at BCV direct from Disney in November 2025. If after we closed on our resale contract, and are live in the DVC system, is it possible to just cancel the cash reservation and immediately-ish see that room pop up as available for booking in DVC (assuming it was previously sold out across the board, which it currently is)?

No. Cash bookings are separate inventory from DVC points bookings, thus, if you cancel your cash reservation it will be available for someone else to make a cash booking.
Also, even if the cash villa went to points inventory, folks likely have waitlists for the BC villas & your cancelled villa would likely be taken to fill someone’s waitlist rather than being available for a new booking.

See if the 1BR villa is available with points, if it is, book and then cancel the cash room - as long as you are within the cancelation window. But in all likelihood, it may be too late to book BCV for November using points, but you never know! 1 BR's are the easiest to book.

No, cash availability is in a totally different inventory as point bookings. You would need to find a room for points then cancel the cash stay within the cancellation guidelines. Alternatively, go with the cash rate and bank you points for a future trip.

As mentioned, it’s completely different inventory. The thing is that until you close and are ready to book, you won’t know what will be available.

It’s why we don’t let people share availability here. If you bought today, assume, at best, 60 days to be ready to book.

That puts you almost to August, less than 4 months out for a very busy time.

When we bought direct we were able to get DVC to take over the cash reservation for a 1 BR at BCV we'd already booked. It was part of a Welcome Home first trip.

With direct, they have the ability to help with a Welcome Home stay. That is not possible when you buy resale.

Think about the moral hazard that would create. Everyone could book a room at an expensive and hard to get resort on a credit card and then cancel right before the deadline and use cheap SAPs to stay there.

I'm not sure how well those swanky bowling alley's are doing, the one in our area just closed after about 10 years.
I would gently push back that “your area” is probably not on Walt Disney World property right next 3/4 large resorts of people on vacation or a business trip.

Just trying to think of something active, but indoors, that could also have food and meet their requirement of trying to shove as much alcohol as possible onto the property.
