Cancel cruise or go with someone else

I have this troubling dilemma and I'm wondering how anyone else might deal with it.

I've been planning a cruise for almost 2 years with a great group of people whom I met online here and have been having a blast chatting and planning with them.

I was traveling with my boyfriend of almost 4 years.
I was so super excited about it too! boyfriend not as much.....

So now less than 6 months to cruise date boyfriend cannot go....
other very important plans that understandably cannot be changed. Which leaves him with no time off from work to go on cruise.

I have a friend that will go in his place and she is super excited to go along.... especially since I've already paid most everything and asked her to only pay airfare, excursions, her own shopping, drinks etc. ....

But I'm feeling so guilty about this....:guilty:

Boyfriend says he doesn't care, go have a good time but I'm really sad about it:sad1:

How many of you would still go?

Or would you cancel and go another time with your partner?

Hey there!! if you are still during the period in which you can cancel w/o loosing any $$, I would cancel, making sure that your DBF has real reason not to go, it sounds like he did not want to in the first place, and if that is the case, I would still cancel and go with someone that is willing to pay for their part (friend, family) of course if you are loosing $$ just go and make the most out of it, I can tell you that you are going to have a blast. I'll be praying

Thanks for responding:hug:

No, DBF reason is for real. His daughter, who lives in Germany and hasn't been to the US to visit since 2006, is able to come this summer to visit. He doesn't have enough vacation time to go on cruise and have 3 weeks off with his daughter. So the cruise had to go for him.

I've been planning this trip for almost 2 years now and really didn't want to cancel, although I desperately wanted to travel with him.

But (because I am a impulsive person who often doesn't think things through:rolleyes::upsidedow) I already asked an old high school friend along. She is super excited and will love it!

But sadly, I'm not as excited anymore, just feeling like I haven't done the right thing.

DBF says it's ok, go have a good time, but I'm still feeling guilty:guilty:
