Has anyone had to cancel an ADR at the last minute? I'm worried about the grandkids having a meltdown, and us not being able to participate in a TS meal. Or even worse, being a no-show!!
Has anybody had to do this, and if so, what were the consequences?
This is what I hate the most about all these ADRs- who knows when we will be hungry or what mood the kids will be in, eventhough I'm aiming for fairly early mealtimes.

It depends on the meal. CRT and Akershus have a cancellation fee, if you canceled last minute or are a no-show, they will charge you. Most other places, you can just can just call last minute and tell them you won't be able to make it. We have done this a number of times when the kids decided they wanted to go on a couple of more rides instead of eating with Mickey Mouse..

Only ADRS that required a CC to book it have cancel no show fees. If you have one of those meals .. you call 24 hours in advance to cancel. I am sure if there is a good reason you can call in that 24 hour window and cancel ..such as illness or whatnot.

If you did not use a CC to book the ADR then you are not required to call and cancel. You will not be docked or in trouble whatsoever if you don't call and cancel it. With that said ... its is the polite thing to do so others who are trying to grab a table at that place have a chance to do so but in no way are you required to call and cancel... unless you used a CC to book it :flower3:

We actually had ADRs at Tutto Italia and two members of our party decided not to eat because they weren't feeling well. It was no problem.

We had an ADR for ten people at Chef Mickey's that -to make a long story short - ended up only being three people. We even had to cancel a birthday cake with that ADR and did it all no problem. The three people who ended up going to the meal went about an hour after our designated ADR time and were seated. This was all arranged at the walk up podium at the time of our ADR.

Mind you this is not something I normally do or would recommend you do, but taking away people or cancelling isn't a problem, unless as other posters mentioned you use a CC.

Have a great trip!

I have cancelled a few ADR b/c of my son (if he is still napping close to our ADR, I call and cancel or if he would rather have room service than go out to a TS we do ADR), I have cancelled CM one hour before our ADR and they understood. I have cancelled our CRT breakfast the night before b/c we were out late and he wanted to sleep in the next morning and they did not charge b/c I called the night before and explained to them that its the end of our trip and my son was feeling a little rundown and wanted to sleep in. Disney does understand...I would rather cancel my ADR then have my son disrupt our people dinner.

Thank you all for the replies- I feel SO much better about making my ADR's now that I have some options....
I would never not show up for a reservation without a very good reason!

Hey things happen! We had to cancel Les Ceillers for dinner one night last minute :scared1:
Our resort was hosting a beach party for the opening of Camp rock. My DD is a huge Jonas brothers fan and when she found out about the camp rock party... err... there was no convincing her Les Ceillers would make for a better birthday dinner :sad2:

Its really hard to know what is going to happen months in advance! You don't know how tired your going to be or how cranky the kids will be or if there is a last minute special event (such as our camp rock party)!

It is the polite thing to call as soon as you know your not going to be there. That way another guest can have a magical moment with a last minute seating:cloud9:

We've had ones in the past we've cancelled - such as LTT dinner, but we were in HOllywood Studios and didn't feel like going over to MK, so called dining and cancelled it, for example.

BUT... what aggravates me is I'm in a park when I've cancelled ADRs on the phone, and calling dining line and then get on hold forever with everyone that is calling to MAKE ADRS. Trying to be courtious and cancel so someone else can have my ressie, yet have to be on hold for a good 10 minutes, wasting park time to do it. ugh! So I wonder how many people actually DO make the phone call to cancel?

And to add to the frustration of calling, you have those voice prompts to go to... in a noisy park and kids with me trying to talk to me and prompt hears whatever going on in my background, keeps assuming noise background was me saying YES to a prompt I didn't - have had numerous times had to hang up, call again, start all over.... and then to have to do it again... and finally get through prompts and have to sit on hold forever.

But yes, you will be fine cancelling - as long as isn't something with a credit card hold to it!

It would be nice if Disney had a hotline to cancel ADRs wouldn't it? I bet they would get more calls that way!
It is a pain to be in the park and try and call to cancel for all the reasons you stated.

If I'm anywhere near Guest Services, I go there to cancel.

Good idea!

Can any podium person cancel an ADR for you? curious about this?

Like if you were at LTT area and wanted to cancel a dinner at Biergarten later than night ...could the podium person at LTT cancel it for you? Are the systems connected?
