9 days in the Canadian Rockies!! Might be our favorite trip ever! Beautiful weather, scenery, etc.

Where to next? What will compare?

Here's what we liked: no humidity, no traffic and easy to get around.

Looking for suggestions, preferably continental US or Canada.

We'd be traveling from the east coast.

Thanks!

Not sure which month you are travelling..... One idea is to fly into Calgary.... make your way to the West Coast.... put in a few days in Vancouver. Then continue your journey on a cruise North, South, or West across the Pacific. The Disney Wonder is waiting to greet you.

Hi from Calgary - thanks for coming! Sorry we didn't have better weather for you. It's been a cool, cloudy spring. :wave2:

Actually, the weather was perfect! The first 3 days were chilly with some spits of rain, while we were in Banf, but coming from the East Coast of the US, it was a welcomed relief. The next 3 days were spent in Jasper (a 9 hour drive along the Icefields Pkwy--wow!!!) and the weather was spectacular--low 70s. We headed back to Canmore for the last 3 days, and the weather was quite warm--low 80s.

I cannot recommend this trip highly enough!

Happy 150th Oh Canada!

Stop by Winnipeg for a hey and tour the Human Rights Museum.

There's a ton to do in Canada if you drive straight across.

My husband's dream trip when we retire. He has such fond memories of his time there on a childhood vacation.

The desert southwest.

OP said the Canadian Rockies trip was "quite warm in the low 80s." I don't think she would enjoy the desert southwest in the summer. We're just coming off a heat wave of over a week of 110F+ temps.

January would be a great time to visit here.

OP, have you ever been to Maine, especially Bar Harbor?

Ah, I was going off the OP that asked for low humidity, no traffic and easy to get around (missed the comment in the follow up post).

I'm pretty heat averse myself, but still visit the desert southwest in summer because we tend to find some higher elevations to break up the hotter locations.

Glad to hear it was awesome. We are headed off to the Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park NEXT summer. I have to make my Glacier Park reservations this Saturday....if I figured it out right.

Where did you stay in Banff? Any suggestions. Right now I have the Rimrock Resort hotel booked. But it's kind of pricey for the amount of time we will probably actually be there...

We usually stay in Canmore instead of Banff, much cheaper!

There are five national parks in Utah, all beautiful. Zion is the most crowded and the hottest in summer (because of the lowest altitude). You can plant your self in Kanab, UT, and have reasonable drives to Zion, Bryce, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon (which was cooler than Zion when we visited). There's probably reasonable places to plant yourself between the other three Utah parks.

It's some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

We actually considered the Rimrock, and after seeing it yesterday, I'm glad we decided against it. It's too far away from Banff Ave. where all the activity is (10 minute drive).

We stayed at the Delta Canadian Lodge Banff (actually owned by Marriott). It is directly on Banff Ave and within walking distance of everything. After a few nights there, we headed to Jasper and stayed at the Best Western. Jasper's accommodations are much more limited. This was about a 5 minute drive to the main part of Jasper.

After Jasper, we returned to the Banff area, but stayed in Canmore this time. Canmore offers more timeshare type accommodations that are very reasonably priced. We loved the location and could also walk to their town center. Banff is maybe a 20 minute drive away.

Regardless of where you stay, it's all glorious!

We visited Sedona a few years ago in July--absolutely loved it and the weather was beautiful. We'd like to pair that up with another destination as part of a road trip. We've always wanted to see Red Rocks amphitheater in Colorado. Might have to start researching!

One of the things we liked best about Banff National Park and Jasper National Park is that they had small towns--you never felt like you were in the middle of nowhere.

You can pair up Sedona with Page (Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon, and Havasu Falls).
